As I don't mind it, I would say require registration.

But if you are worried about driving people away with it, you could try without for a month or so, see how much problems you run into...

    Yes, require registration. Most definitely.

Those who actually have something to say will gladly register. Others won't be missed.

I do prefer not to have my name searchable by web scrapers, but the proliferation of trolls makes barriers of some kind desirable

I hate to agree on registration, but yeah. Tall trees catch the most wind, and the world is full of blowhards.

Best of luck in the new shop, by the way. I've been a daily reader of yours since The Washington Monthly days.

Probably should. Glad to see you setting up a blog site. Of Course sad to see you leaving MJ. Above all hope your health is good

  6. Will the real Ken Rhodes please raise your hand

Yes to registration, and also yes to unique usernames.

100% require, it creates accountability for the poster and hopefully creates a hurdle that trolls and blog-monsters won't want to deal with.

  8. Philip Kabza

Yes to registration. It will elevate the level of commentary; otherwise the comment threads will end up knee deep in troll shit.

    Please yes.

Also, maybe a blood test, background check, financial disclosures, and a few essay questions, if wordpress still supports that stuff.

I recommend registration. The primary benefit is that the site admin can then act to block those who will abuse the privilege to comment.
