We're about 3 weeks out from hitting 10% vaccinated (first shot) in most areas now. That should start showing up in hospitalizations and deaths, most of the vaccinated were in vulnerable populations, but shouldn't affect number of cases a lot yet.
Case loads have leveled off--not dropping much as governors insist on opening up. Still have 3 states below 10 new cases/day/100K: WA, OR, MO. TX, GA and CT have dipped below 25. NY, NJ and RI still above 30. FL, DE, and SC plateauing around 25. CA has been steadily, albeit slowly, dropping, and my dip below 10 this week--though if it follows other states, the drop will stop just above that level.
Note: TX still hasn't caught up with testing since the freeze and their death count seems to be high--the freeze disrupted reporting. Variants are about--different ones at different levels at different places. Please keep masking--that still helps.

Greg Abbott has already asked the Biden Regime to resecure the illegals to reduce Rona spread by foreign agents in a Sino-Chicano biowarfare attack.

I guess I’m not sure how this “herd immunity” thing works. Back in, as I recall, May of last year, they did serology testing samples in NYC and found that about 20% of New Yorkers tested positive for having had some version of the disease. Quite a bit of time has passed since then and NYC has gone through another surge in cases and vaccinations are happening now. I would have thought that of all places NYC would have enough immunity to bring new cases way down. That doesn’t seem to be the case. NYC still has a rather high number of new cases. I suppose that’s at least in part due to the new variant but I still think the numbers are high considering the fact that so many New Yorkers seem to have had the disease.

Surge of cases?? Not from my view. Notice the large drop of cases to hospitalization. The latter is all that matters.

Not enough tests early on distorts the numbers. There is some evidence that mask wearing not only prevents cases, but even if one is infected, the cases tend to be milder. Better treatments, proning patients and using Dex, shorten hospital stays (for good reasons).
But there has been is (and still is) a surge of cases, hospitalizations and deaths. Maybe not as bad as a year ago, but still bad.
As for "natural immunity"--look to Manaus, Brazil. Vaccines seem to do much better for long term immunity.

The instant wingnut governors heard Biden talking about how we're on track to produce a huge amount of vaccine and immunize a substantial part of the population by two months from now they instantly revoke mask mandates and other safety restrictions.

It's exactly as if they want to kill as many people as they can while they can still get away with it and destroy any progress that might otherwise be made because a Democrat might be credited with it and make them look like, --what, murderers?

Are there no laws about public endangerment that apply here?

Where's Walter Sobczak to tip Fake Spinal Greg Abbott out of his wheelchair & leave him a whimpering mess on the floor of the Texas Governor's Office?
