Do conservatives ever criticize Fox News?

There are lots of conservatives who are willing to criticize Donald Trump and the Trumpification of the Republican Party. OK, maybe not "lots." But a fair number. It's definitely a thing.

But are there any conservatives who are willing to criticize Fox News? There might be! I don't follow every conservative in the country. Can anybody name a dozen or three?

The folks over at the Bulwark have been criticizing FOX news for at least a year now. See, e.g., Charles Sykes’ newsletter this morning.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Mad has gone out of print.

I was really bummed when I found out. It's like losing a big chunk of your childhood.

Whoa! Is there new content? Masybe they just declared bankruptcy.

Anyway, I'll have all of these answers in 6-8 weeks when my subscription kicks in.

Isn't this a tree falling in the forest kinda thing? A conservative might criticize Fox News, but if Fox News doesn't air it, do other conservatives get to hear it?

People like David Frum and Max Boot have criticized Fox News. By definition, that makes them "ex-conservatives"

Yes, and when your former heroes (Jonathan Turley, Matt Taibbi, J.K. Rowling, Glenn Greenwald, for starters) don't toe your Stalinist line, it's down the memory hole. You people are smug, arrogant, stupid, lazy, racist shithead hypocrites, and the people know it.

These are YOUR PEOPLE, Anglo antifa racists.

Johnathan Turley was a liberal hero in the same way Richard Perle was a registered Democrat thru the Bush-43 regime.

Who cares what you think?™ [1] LOL

[1] You have my permission to use this when the troll who used to call themselves 'Total' posts their usual waste of good electrons.

It doesn't take long to recognize a few posters who have a particular point of view and who are not worth reading, much less responding to. Sort of like never try to teach a pig to sing. It annoys the pig and wastes your time.

You’re too lazy to loot, it requires stepping away from your computer keyboard which seems to be lodged sideways up your ass.

Joe Walsh, the self-described "reformed gang-banger," certainly does. Sample line: "Watching Fox News can get you killed."

As always, the problem is not top-down, it is bottom-up. The problem is not Fox, or any of the various worse-than-Fox; it is their audiences. And even Democrats dare not criticize them.

    1. ProgressOne

It works both ways. The audience wants more of the over-the-top propaganda to get that nice-feeling political buzz. And Fox News wants to distribute more over-the-top propaganda to gain a bigger audience and make more money. But it seems to me that Fox has provided the leadership here as far as TV goes. Of course many viewers had already been prepped by a decade or two of listening to AM talk radio.

Usually a mob, like many of those in the Trump base, need focused leaders to spin them up. Fox News certainly provides that and more.

Tell it to the Cuomo Brothers, "progressive" racist. LOL

There is definitely a top-down effect, I know several otherwise-reasonable people who've gotten observably dumber over time as they consumed more and more Faux News, and increasingly parroted its talking points. They may have had an innate desire to believe that hogwash to begin with, but before long-term exposure to Faux News they didn't actually embrace it and spread it themselves.

    3. Leo1008

Propaganda is, in fact, quite dangerous. And there's no question that, at the very least, the prime time "opinion" hosts at Faux news are propagandists. Sure, it would be great if we didn't have a population filled with millions of people foolish enough to believe a lot of that stuff. But, without the propaganda in the first place, those foolish people would be a lot less dangerous ...

      1. jakejjj

Ha! The stone-cold "progressive" racist doesn't want to think about the 79% of Americans who don't trust his bullshit communist media. LOL

        Cordially,

        The Latinx

        1. Leo1008

Perhaps it is unintentional on your part, but your reply serves as an excellent example of my point. We can see in your words the influence of propaganda, and we can clearly see in your person someone who is foolish enough to believe in that propaganda. Thanks!

          1. jakejjj

Your "progressive" racism is fun. Trust me, your Latinx bullshit is going to hurt your kind bigtime, maricon. LOL

          2. sfbay1949

Leo1008, nice try, talking to jakejjj, assuming he/she is a rational person. I applaud your efforts. But don't waste your time.

I'm just irritated that Kevin doesn't even moderate his own comments section. There are several posters here that really need to go bye bye.

  6. Kelvin

Besides the folks at the Bulwark (e.g. Charlie Sykes) and the Dispatch (e.g. David French), nobody, really.

(Unless you're counting Trump and his sycophants' critiques.)

  7. Leo1008

I believe that Jennifer Rubin at the WaPo was at one point in time considered a "conservative." I think that's why her blog used to be called "Right Turn." But I'm not sure what sort of classification applies to her now: maybe a never-trumper?

I don't know if the "conservatives" (or insurrectionists) of 2021 would still call her a conservative; but, she certainly does rip into Fox, Trump, and everything Republican these days ...

    1. sfbay1949

I don't read many conservatives/former conservatives, but off hand I don't remember any of them calling out FOX News. Maybe there's a rule out there somewhere stating it's bad form to go after FOX. Or maybe they simply hope to one day be back in the good graces of FOX. Either way it's pitiful.

There are many Republicans who criticize Fox News for being too soft on Democrats. If you want Red Meat it's the ON(A)Nists for you.
