This is Charlie being bad. He knows he's not supposed to be on the other side of the fence, but he goes out there anyway. Luckily, a teenager or a dog or something always comes along pretty quickly, which scares him back into the yard.
In fact, Charlie is an excellent outdoor cat. He sometimes roams a little more than he should, but he always responds to us calling his name. Even if he's in a neighbor's yard, all we have to do is call out and he comes bounding back. We've never had a cat quite that smart before.
One of the reasons I like cats.
They always make a point of letting you know they only indulge requests from their pet humans because it amuses them.
Well, maybe they come "because it amuses them." More likely, though, they know there's a meal or at least a tasty treat if they oblige the human by going back home.
Sounds more like a dog to me
He knows where the mouse is buttered.
Hi Kevin,
Our first cat was a wonderful calico named Ivy. When we lived in an apartment she would look longingly outside (my husband dubbed her window view "kitty tv") but it wasn't until we moved into a house that she could get out and explore.
She was also very smart. She wouldn't wander far and always came back when we called her name. She's been gone more than 10 years now and I've never had a better cat. It made me smile to think about those memories when I read this post about your cat. Happy cat blogging Friday.
Pretty kitty.
Charlie's got that "bad boy" look, doesn't he? Although, what do we know about cat expressions? Most of us don't even know what purring actually signifies...
Treat a cat like a dog, and they will act like a dog. Our cats would go on walks with us. Came when called.
My daughter actually takes her cat out in a stroller. They're always a big hit at the walk for the Humane Society in the spring.
????????????????
Cat knows where the food is. Certainly smarter than most cats.
himb jest a saucy kinda kitteh. I can tell.
A cat that cute is never bad.
