I've had a bit of a setback. Normally, physical therapy means walking over to a chair and sitting for an hour. This produces a small amount of huffing and puffing, but it goes away quickly after I get back in bed.
Not yesterday. I got back in bed and my breathing never caught up. I huffed and puffed all night. The answer probably lies here:
When I first got to the hospital my inflammation level was sky-high. An IV steroid quickly got that down. But a couple of days ago, in their rush to discharge me, they switched to an oral steroid. Bad idea. The next day they switched back, but it was too late. Now we have to wait a few days for everything to come back down. In the meantime I'm gasping for breath.
This is so frustrating I could scream. Everything has improved tremendously except the one thing that really matters: my breathing. It stays stubbornly shallow and weak. What's going on?
Please don’t waste your breath on screaming. Kick back and relax and save your breath. Maybe tincture of time is the answer. Get well, Kevin.
Too much news. Lay off and just something entertaining.
'Watch'.
'Watch something entertaining'.
Did they give you a tank? If not hold fast! If so, rest and recuperate.
We want you well and appreciate your posts but sometimes you have to put yourself first.
Yes. Put your needs first, along with Marian's. Your posts are a light in the wilderness to us all, but your life is much more important.
As my wife and I say to each othe. "think little kitty thoughts"
.
When you get home, consider this as an adjunct:

I know how hard the lung issues can be. This is very hard. Press on, you have a huge community pulling for you.
Take a pause for the cause - your health is the priority. While a setback is frustrating, this is a message from your body.... slow down and relax. Just think of how much progress you have made from a week ago. Politics, Trump, Musk and the clusterf.... that is going on can and will wait. Your fans will also wait and look forward to the day you are safe at home with family and cats.
You have pneumonia. That stuff's tenacious.
Thanks for sharing. It's good this was caught before you were at home.
Take care of yourself! We all need you.
I am afraid that I will again take a contrary view, though I do think it wonderful that they caught this before you went back home.
However, I think it is probably good for you to continue your important work of blogging in these critical times. Personally, I am so enraged that I try to stay away from the news because it is depressing and adverse to my mental health.
To the contrary, you passively laying around and being sick, it's probably against your best interest both health wise and emotionally. I can get up and do things, you cannot and to simply lay there in misery is not in my opinion the best therapy for you.
As always very best wishes and good luck...and trusting you will as always make the correct decision. Traveller
Jeez. I hear you. This is bullshit already.
Take care of yourself first. The world will still suck when you come back to it.
Thank you so much for keeping us updated. Sending best thoughts and wishes your way, including atheist prayers. Hang in there, and please get better!
Very sorry to hear this, but at least it seems clear the specific item that led to the setback. Hang in there, Kevin!
Check out "Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia". Longer term steroid treatments are the answer as well as watching water intake/sodium levels
