It's a misconception that goldenrod is responsible for seasonal allergies. The real culprit is ragweed, which blooms at about the same time as goldenrod, but has tiny, inconspicuous flowers. Ragweed pollen is relatively light and windborne, while goldenrod pollen is relatively heavy and is transported by insects.
