I don't know what kind of tree this is, but the red leaves were pretty so I took a picture of them. Anybody want to help ID this bit of Louisiana swamp flora?

Abyssal swamp weed.
Only grows over the wreck of a Spanish galleon, the souls of it's entombed crew trapped in the bog but free to wander on the darkest nights, crying to be released into the sweet oblivion of true death.
plant.id says Triadica sebifera, Chinese tallow, with 63% probability.
Plausible. Also invasive.
Not a clue, but they look nice. Totally OT but wanted to report that I'm reading today, here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that a lot of ARPA funding is finally hitting the County of Milwaukee and City of Milwaukee (both controlled now by black young low-key black guys) big time. It's just $50 million here, $25 million there for housing-related and other community-building project, but it beats a stick-in-the-eye. Advantage: Democrats. If local leaders like Milwaukee's own County Executive David Crowley, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barne, and current fill-in Mayor Cavalier Johnson don't prompt massive black turnout this fall, it will say something.
ARPA? In this context, surely not DoD's Advanced Research Projects Agency?
Really surprised KD isn't posting more about the collapse of Covid/Omicron. Was it the Red Giant phase???
What collapse? You really are a putz. Covid is at the very least an endemic issue and has not gone away (even folks who say Covid is just like the flu, well....has the flu "collapsed," no...it is with us all the time and flares up at different times of the year, and lots of folks like myself even get yearly shots to try and avoid the flu).
You are that person who still says we should "apologize" to Ron DeSantis for being right about Covid no longer being an issue in FL, of course he made this claim oh, about 6-12 months before Covid really did start to wind down as major public health issue in his state. However, in your eyes because he was "right" about Covid six-twelve months before he really was right about Covid, that by golly, he is still entitled to crow about having been correct about Covid.
Spades, your I only exist on this site to rile up liberals schtick is getting really old, you need to refresh your act as the ratings are starting to decline.
