In honor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning the Super Bowl, here's a picture of the Pirate Tower in Laguna Beach. It's a 1-second exposure near sunset, which gives the ocean surf a misty look.
Needless to say, this is not actually a pirate tower. It's a stairway. There's a house at the top, and the eccentric dude who built it decided he wanted more than just the usual set of wooden steps when he went down to the beach. He decided on a French chateau look, and back in 1926 I guess there was no one around to tell him he couldn't do it.
The only thing missing are the longboat with crew pulling to shore and the anchored Sloop-of-War under a black flag.
Merpunzel's Tower.
Neat!
Beautiful look, but I can't imagine it would have been comfortable, except as a lookout in good weather. The longer I live, the more creature comforts are appreciated.
That's a beach?
Not all beaches have sand.
So I guess I have to ask: Did you think about using an 4- (or higher) stop reduction ND filter a half-hour before sunset, to access more light but longer exposure to make the ocean's waves look even more dreamy?
How wonderful that there were masons then that could build it so well that's its last nearly 100 years. Wonder if such artisans still exist....
painedumonde, Trump sailed away on your sloop.
