Donald Trump won by appealing to the working class with a bevy of promises. No tax on overtime! Bring back manufacturing! Tariffs on China and Mexico! Deport 20 million illegal immigrants! Slash energy prices!
But surprise! Can you guess what his top priority really is? Huh? Can you?
Well, sure, most of Trump's voters will get screwed out of everything they thought they heard him promise.
But, hey, at least they don't have to see a black woman in the White House. So at least there's that for consolation!
That and their hate has a spokesperson. An advocate to persecute people they don't like. They're as happy as a pig in shit.
If you thought the man who declared he hated paying overtime and would go to great lengths to avoid doing so was going to propose not taxing overtime you have to be the dumbest motherfucker alive. Of course he's going to cut taxes for himself and other billionaires. Everyone else will be lucky if they get one year of a modest tax cut. Trusting a pathological liar is the ultimate litmus test of ones intelligence, or lack there of.
It seems to me after Tuesday that one hell of a lot of our fellow Americans are in competition to be named "dumbest motherfucker alive."
I see them a lot at work. One told me once how smart he is. Because that's what smart people do...
We thought we were *so* close to not having to think about that guy anymore. Boy were we stupid.
But were we stupid? Or did we simply underestimate the stupidity of tens of millions of our fellow Americans?

I'm not watching him speak anymore. I stopped watching all the SOTU speeches a long time ago. There's no need to listen to a pathological liar.
I think we were overly optimistic. Personally speaking I never stopped believing it was possible for him to win. I didn't want to believe he could, but my faith in humanity and peoples ability to think and act rationally is virtually non existent.
This is a nation that voted for Nixon twice, Reagan twice, and W. Bush twice.
The vastness of the stupidity of American voters has been on manifest display for half a century.
Trump always reminds me of a used car salesman. He promised his supporters a Cadillac CT5 but is going deliver a used Ford Pinto. But he hates the same people they do so it's all good!
Let the GOP overreach. Maybe the Democrats can take up something that the working class supports and push for that to help with visibility among voters we seem to have lost.
Part of me wants this to hurt the country as much as possible. If I could somehow remove myself and my family from suffering along with everyone else, I'd be in favor of letting the MAGA crowd have exactly what they voted for.
"Maybe the Democrats can take up something that the working class supports and push for that to help with visibility among voters we seem to have lost."
First time?
You've never heard of Medicare Medicaid and SSI? Did you think those were Republican ideas? Who do you think supports strengthening or improving them and who wants to get rid of them? I'll give you a hint, the former are the Democrats and the latter are the Republicans.
A lot depends on the House. Has the majority been decided? I haven't turned on the TV since watching a couple of movies Tuesday night and maybe I've missed the latest, but I thought it was still TBD. No?
The tax cut would suck but it's also not the biggest worry.
I dont think so. I keep reading articles in my Google feed that say the Democrats are hopefull about a few of the races that haven't been called yet.
Heck with "doing what's best for the country" - the Democrats get no credit for that, and end up losing elections, which is not what's best for the country. It's time to be the disloyal opposition. Make them own every failure, and there will be plenty of them. Rip them on how he didn't make grocery prices fall, border crossings didn't drop to zero, and neither did crime rates. Cherry-pick data, misrepresent it, and blame Trump for things he has no control over.
And let's not forget how he was going to end wars in a day. Remind him every day that the wars didn't end.
"Is Russias war of aggression over yet?" AT EVERY SINGLE PRESS CONFERENCE. Though I think we'd be informed that we weren't supposed to take that seriously and or litterally.
We weren't supposed to take it seriously? Doesn't matter - hammer him on it anyway. Over and over, every day.
His supporters don't care. Try talking to one about policy. They have no clue. It's all about grievance, which Donald Trump delivers by the truckload.

The thing is, cutting taxes for the rich is the most achievable item on that list. No filibustering just a straight up and down vote.
I know a couple of companies that are thinking of changing pay bonuses to overtime. Should be very helpful for the wealthy.
It will be interesting to see which of Trumps economic promises are even attempted. What do you think?
1. No taxes on tips?
2. Interest on car loans tax deductible?
3. No taxes on Social Security?
4. No taxes on overtime income?
5. Across the board income tax cut for every taxpayer?
6. Make previous Trump tax cuts permanent?
7. Cut corporate tax rate?
8. No cuts in benefits or changes in Social Security retirement age?
9. The federal budget cut by 33%?
10. Tax credits for home caregivers who are family members?
11. Repeal the impound control act of 1974 which prohibits a president from withholding funding approved by congress that he disagrees with?
12. Interest rates on credit cards capped at 10%?
13. IVF fully covered with no out of pocket expense for parents?
14. Provide housing for all homeless veterans?
15. Provide federal funding for all faith based drug rehabilitation centers?
16. Expand the Family and Medical leave act to include drug rehabilitation programs?
17. $10,000 per child tax credit for home schooling?
(I got these from Ron Filipkowski’s substack page. He says there is video for all of these promises.)
I’d say 6,7, and 11. Maybe 5 if it is small for the non-wealthy.
Tax cuts for sure, because it benefits him directly, and the rich people he wants to impress. But there’s nothing in it for him in any of the others, and he can’t win a third term, so why bother to do anything for the voters? That would take work, and leave less time for golf and revenge on his enemies.
He won't do 5. He might do 15 if only to throw a bone to theists.
Here’s Kevin’s list of “small ball” pro-worker policies that Dems don’t get credit for (last April 24):

I recall that Trump's first-term tax cuts for tycoons were highly unpopular. I wonder if these tax cuts will impress the non-degreed working class I've heard so much about.
