Biden now trailing Obama/Trump approval levels

Here's my sorta-monthly look at how Joe Biden is polling compared to our last two presidents:

Biden has dipped recently and is no longer equal to Obama and Trump at this point in their presidencies. But the differences are still at the noise level. We have not yet seen the whites of their eyes.

Anyone spending two seconds worrying about that is wasting their time.

But if you want to look at polls:

Biden leads in 8 recent polls over Trump. (You won’t hear about that on the news.)

My Twitter beef of the day.
Yesterday protesters shut down a freeway in LA. Today protesters shut down the Schuylkill Expressway in Philly. There are lots of tweets going around bitching about those terrible, disruptive Palestinian protesters. Noah Smith may have the biggest megaphone getting that word out. The trouble is this. Both protests were organized by Jewish groups.

People just like to complain. But it would nice (or necessary, actually) if people took half a second to get their facts straight before blaming the wrong party for crap they don’t like.

Anyone blocking streets for protests should be arrested. In Florida we passed that law after BLM protesters were in streets and stopped traffic.

Um, you do know they are arrested, right? A bunch of people blocked the Bay Bridge during APEC and were, um, let me check my notes, arrested.

Cherry-picking a few polls out of the majority of polls is not a valid use of polls. The only thing that matters are the poll averages. If you cherry-picked just the polls where Trump is leading, you would find many more, most from reputable pollsters, and with a higher percentage lead than just one or two percent.

Simon Rosenberg is hardly an objective observer.

Approval rating is different than who is going to show up to vote against Trump and his Republican sycophants, which is the only thing that will really matter

Also, it is hopeful news that the DC Circuit Court responded promptly to Jack Smith's petition or whatever you call it for them to declare that Trumpy is not immunized because he committed his crimes while still president, in other words that he is not above the law. Trump's attorney needs to file his garbage argument to that court by next week. The Supremes have also requested briefing from Trump's lawyers. We can hope that as Donny begins sinking into legal quicksand he will gradually lose a significant number of votes. It would make as much sense to vote for Convict 0045 as to vote for Moscow Jill Stein.

I wonder if Moscow Mitch when he was urging everyone not to vote for impeachment the second time foresaw how this was going to play out. I think he doesn't like Donald much. OTOH, Mitch may not make it much longer himself.

The Roberts court has a deeply conservative majority. But I've never gotten the vibe that it's a MAGA majority. Alito (and on occasion Thomas) may be a different story, but I'd say Roberts, Kav, Barrett and Gorsuch are generally traditional movement conservatives, and, as such, I think they're not highly sympathetic to Donald Trump. I strongly suspect these four are even ok with losing a presidential election or two if that's what's required to return the GOP to traditional right wingery (basically, run the country for the benefit of rich people). I suspect, in other words, that they're among the dwindling number of conservatives who realize the loss of our democracy would not be an unmitigated boon for rich people.

".. that they're among the dwindling number of conservatives who realize .."

It is not only matter of realizing, it is also a matter of being able to do something about it without losing much. I think most Republican politicians realize that Trump takes the US to the bin, but think opposing him will damage them personally. Supreme court justices feel safer about their position.

leftists hate Biden even more than the MAGAts do. but most of them will probably vote for him. but who knows what they would say to a pollster.

I am one leftist who does not hate Biden (although I do not like him as much since his enabling of Netanyahu). I object to him only because I am convinced by poll averages, such as the one Kevin references, that he is very unlikely to beat Trump.

Besides trailing Trump in polling averages, Biden trails him in most all of the battleground states. Biden winning again in Georgia and Arizona seems to be in the realm of fantasy.

Biden is an incredibly weak candidate for re-election and likely to lose. I'm sure that most Democratic political operatives know this. Why they are silent and seemingly unconcerned is is hard to understand and quite troubling to me.
