Border encounters stay high in November

Nothing new to report on the border. The stream of immigrants continued to be very high in November:

Total encounters in November came to 242,000, the same as October. Of those, about 50,000 were asylum seekers processed at border stations. The other 192,000 were caught crossing illegally between ports of entry.

Trump's "remain in Mexico" policy has turned the border into a large immigrant camp. It has and will take years to work through that backlog, so typical seasonal swings in immigration may not be the case for a while. Of course Republicans are yelling that the "border is open" to spur more people to try to come to the US.

Has anyone followed the money that supports these folks on their trek to the border??
Seems like there would be some expense getting passage from where ever they start from. Walking from Venezuela, Columbia and Ecuador seems a stretch.

The number of encounters clearly says that the Biden administration is engaging in record high levels of enforcement at the border. So much for "open borders".

A question for enterprising investigative reporters: could there be any chance of a money and/or PR trail linking the countries these people are leaving to any monied interests in the US that might be urging people there to try their luck seeking asylum with Uncle Sam?

Put another way, could there be some active operation playing on people's fears and hopes and dreams in places they leave from that's being run by gop-friendly and/or employer-friendly (but I repeat myself) interests here, to help create the numbers at the border?

Nobody who's watched them in recent years would put this kind of rat-fucking past them. And there's the example of DeSantis setting up a bunch of people in Texas to meet the arrivals and sweet-talk them into flying to Martha's Vineyard. Why should we assume that's only happening inside the US? This inquiring mind wants to know.
