CNN: Gaetz investigation will be released

From CNN:

The House Ethics Committee secretly voted earlier this month to release its report into the conduct of former Rep. Matt Gaetz before the end of this Congress, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the matter.

....The vote, which has not previously been reported, amounts to a stark reversal for the panel after it had voted along party lines in late November not to release the results of the investigation. The decision to release the report suggests that some Republicans ultimately decided to side with Democrats on the matter.

Now that Gaetz no longer matters to Donald Trump, I guess at least a few Republicans screwed up the courage to do the right thing.

Given they just released a report going after ex-member Liz Cheney, a few probably found the inconsistency too absurd. And, most of them despise Gaetz, so it was something many were looking for an excuse to do.

Different committee, though. The BS report accusing Cheney was released by the chair of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, Rep. Milquetoast Loudermilk.

The pundits’ take has been that Gaetz would run for Governor of Florida. One of the Ethics Committee members is John Rutherford of Florida; maybe he decided to spare his state?

Florida probably deserves to get Gaetz as Governor. Good launching point for Gaetz's run for President in 2028, assume the Trump 2nd Reich ends with just 2 terms. Gaetz is sexual predator, liar, and an all around despicable piece of shit, so he is the perfect person to lead the MAGA party.

But he speaks in actual sentences and doesn’t veer off into weird diatribes about sharks or wind turbines or cannibals; maybe some additional heavy drug use can fix that.

I don't think screwed up their courage is quite right. Now that Trump has given up on Gaetz he won't care what happens to him. Now they can safely vote the way they had always preferred.

Trump couldn't care less about Gaetz. He was a means toward an end, that's all. He has the same thing with Bondi minus all the baggage.

He burned a lot of bridges over the McCarthy take down, having one of your own squad make you look stupid and disorganized is never going to created endearment.

"Endearment" is a woke, Democrat thing. Since (at least) "W" Bush, the Republican Party has gone with "so what if they hate us, so long as they fear us".

(It sounds better in Latin, admittedly)

Not that I have any inclination to defend Gaetz, but I wonder what their rationale is for releasing it since he is no longer a member of Congress.
