Conservatives are in endless denial about their own movement:

The "planted disinfo" in question is a nutbag conspiracy theory from a Twitter troll called Black Insurrectionist. He's the guy who last month circulated an obviously fake claim from a "whistleblower" that the ABC presidential debate had been rigged for Kamala Harris. Now he's back:
This time, Black Insurrectionist says he received an anonymous email on August 9 from someone claiming they’d been sexually assaulted as a minor by Tim Walz. “I did indeed call the person making the claims,” Black Insurrectionist wrote. “He laid out a story that was very incredulous. I told him he would need to lay everything out in writing for me. In depth and in detail.” Black Insurrectionist included a screenshot of the purported first email; as thousands of people immediately noted, the image had a cursor at the end of the last sentence, making it obvious that he’d written it himself.
Undaunted, Black Insurrectionist went on to post dozens of tweets outlining the claim, including relaying another written “statement” from the victim claiming that Walz has a “raised scar” on his chest and a “Chinese symbol” tattooed on his thigh.
Black Insurrectionist knows his audience. He understands that the MAGA crowd will believe literally anything juicy, no matter how ridiculous it is. It will generate attention and clicks and advertising dollars as long as he keeps up the scam. This is what Donald Trump has taught his followers.
But no. Eli Lake agrees with the loathsome Jack Posobiec that Kamala Harris (a) hired an actor who would pretend to be a molestation victim, (b) decided to funnel this fake story through Black Insurrectionist, (c) all for some unfathomable reason. I mean, what's their theory here for the endgame? That Walz will triumphantly strip down and show everyone he has no tattoo on his thigh, thus destroying the credibility of Black Insurrectionist?
Guys, the real story is simple: your movement is brimming with liars, crackpots, grifters, charlatans, and conspiracy theorists, all feeding the vast maw of credulous Trump followers. That's it. That's all there is.
And part of the "real simple" is that Eli Lake ALSO "understands that the MAGA crowd will believe literally anything juicy, no matter how ridiculous it is. It will generate attention and clicks and advertising dollars as long as he keeps up the scam."
You're not telling the "guys" anything they don't know. They're part of it!
exactly.
Funny, but I've have said they're downright proud of what they're doing. Just this morning the Muedoch propaganda outlet here, the NY Post, had a blaring headline about how Walz made a fool of himself in interviews while Vance was winning over voters with his press coverage. Yeah, right.
Who wants to bet Black Insurrectionist isn't black?
You know what preceded the White Russian? The Black Russian. 1949. 😉🪆
I always appreciate a well made white Russian.
Everything old is new again.
And for that reason, maybe people should pick up Erich Hoffer's The True Believer and give it another read.
“The main requirements [for the leader of a mass movement] seem to be: audacity and a joy in defiance; an iron will; a fanatical conviction that he is in possession of the one and only truth; faith in his destiny and luck; a capacity for passionate hatred; contempt for the present; a cunning estimate of human nature;”
“Mass movements do not usually rise until the prevailing order has been discredited. The discrediting is not an automatic result of the blunders and abuses of those in power, but the deliberate work of men of words with a grievance.”
This is how bad Republicans are. They'd make up a ridiculous conspiracy theory to debunk an equally ridiculous conspiracy theory. They are so far down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole that they're seeing conspiracy theories in virtually everything. When are the sane Republicans going to splinter off and form their own party? Are there enough of them left to do it?
It isn't about anything real, for them it's belief, whatever is the most aggressively motivating, easy to get, image. It's why they can't understand you if you don't speak in bumpersticker bursts.
There is not enough focus on de-motivating MAGA voters. There is some welcome effort but I'm not seeing it as a really explicit and focused part of the campaign.
So the people who have spent the last month claiming:
-Haitians are eating pets
-Harris cheated at the debate
-Walz is a Chinese agent
-FEMA is ignoring North Carolina
-Democrats control the weather
As told by the Pizzagate Guy, have finally found something that was so dumb even they couldn't swallow it.
"Guys, the real story is simple: your movement is brimming with liars, crackpots, grifters, charlatans, and conspiracy theorists, all feeding the vast maw of credulous Trump followers. That's it. That's all there is."
Home, sweet home.
Glad you take the time go into into the sewer hole to figure this all this stuff out. I would be blissfully ignorant with out it. Thank you Kevin
what sewer?
kevin found out about this from his sensible republican friend at his latest panera lunch.
I recall the days when good conspiracy theories were intricate and well-thought-out. These are so amateurish that the wonder is that anyone believes them. As I've said for some time: Fox News has made them lazy. They've trained their audience to believe utter nonsense, so they can no longer be bothered to come up with anything remotely credible.
Good move on Kevin‘s part to get this story in front of more eyeballs.
if it helps your & his candidate of choice, the man of maralago, win, its all good, yes.
your french homie ruralhobo will be happy, too.
What would we do without twitter?

Or even if it isn't, there's so much of it that the Right is so wrong.
Is it just me, or does anybody else think Jack Prosobiec thinks the story is bad and should be ignored, and is trying to tell the MAGA that in terms they might pay attention to?
I mean, if you say, "that can't be right" you will be ignored and ridiculed. Maybe if you say, "I think it's a false flag planted story" then that seems juicy, and people might pay attention.
Sigh. Humans.
Very likely- zero credibility
Also very likely- he'll be on Fox
The movement is bankrupt of ideas except one – get all the money. And really it was the only one they really ever had, the rest was camouflage.
Only the Republicans do stuff like that. Remember how they paid that actress Christine Blasey Ford to claim Justice Kavanaugh tried to assault her? It backfired, though, because even though he was confirmed now half of the country has no respect for the man.
