Consumption growth is historically high

Are we having fun yet? Over the past three years, consumption has grown 13.7%:

Now, these are annual figures, and the latest one represents an increase over the pandemic low. So it's maybe not totally fair. But it's still a great illustration of how strong the Biden recovery from the pandemic has been.

If Trump wins, some time in the next year he'll declare that he created the best economy this country has ever seen and take credit for all these historic highs and lows. 2024 will be the sequel to 2016. One I'd rather not have to endure experiencing.

This must be wrong because how could consumers be buying so much stuff when everyone knows the economy is terrible and if they don't they just need to read or see some new story from the NY Times/Washington Post/ CBS/CNN about someone suffering in Dubuque because eggs and gas cost so much ? No offense to Dubuque.

The election is not about “the economy, stupid”. It’s for bringing about the fascist takeover of the country, punishing democrats, and keeping trump out of prison.

Why is this post and previous ones on economic data presented as a 3 year average? This seems like a suspiciously long period that might have been chosen to smooth over unpleasant details.
