Hot spot spotting....like train spotting without the trains...
Hotspots (CovidActNow, metro areas) still out there, but only one above 20 (down from 3 above 25) new cases/day/100K. Top three, with vaccinations, first dose, total population, in ().
Grand Junction, CO 6/6: 34.4 6/9: 36.9 today: 29.7 (30.8%)
Cheyenne, WY 6/6: 20.4; 6/9: 24.8; today: 28.3 (36.8%)
Springfield MO 6/9: 20.4; today: 23.3 (33.9%)
and a follow up:
Spokane, WA 6/6: 18.0; 6/9: 17.3; today: 10.6 (40.9%)
Now have 6 states with infection rate above, with AR leading the charge: AR, MO, UT, OK, HI, NV, yet they all have case rate below 10.
WY and CO still only two states with infection rate >10 (11.4 and 10.1), with the former more or less holding steady and the latter dropping. Vaccinations: 38.2% and 56.1%
my bad, it's supposed to read "three above 20 (none above 30)"
cut-n-paste gets to everyone eventually 😉
Vaccination race (from CDC Covid Tracker):
NY and DC crossed the 70% threshold (first dose, adults) Monday. That's 14 states plus DC and Palau that have hit the mark. But still only ca. 1/3 of US population live in states that have hit 70% level.
IL on track to cross this week, now at 69.7%
Guam may make it to, now at 69.4%,though probably cross over next week.
VA, 69.3%, will cross next week.
Other states above 68%: MN, DE, CO, OR which may hit 70% before July 4th, so ca. 1/2 the population will be in states with 70% of adults are vaccinated (first dose)
They are followed by WI (64.2%) and NE (63.2%)--which probably won't hit 70% before the 4th.
