I came across some interesting statistics today: The percentage of cases needing hospitalization has been 6.2% on average (this is since testing became adequately available; before that it wasn't possible to calculate this percentage). The last several weeks this number has decreased to about 5.0%, which is considered to be a result of the vaccinations. These numbers are from Sweden, but probably similar elsewhere. Another clear indication it was a good decision to vaccinate the most vulnerable, hence most prone to be needing hospital care if infected, first. Another is, of course, that the death numbers do not follow the case numbers like before.
I think the work to vaccinate more vulnerable Americans has reduced the case fatality rate in the United States from 1.6% to 1.0% since mid March.
Still wondering about Argentina... It's the Winter Spike, right?
