Dining with a white nationalist holocaust denier and Kanye West - yes par for the course. MAGA world wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Trump's explanation, in the improbable event it's true, makes him look both comically ignorant and foolish. He claims (a) Ye wanted very much to have dinner with him, so why not; (b) he brought Fuentes along unannounced, and (c) Trump didn't know anything about Fuentes, but let him join the dinner party anyway.

I can only conclude Fuentes and/or Ye offered in advance to pick up the check. And anything is better than having to eat with Melanie and her kid again.

I'm sure the Secret Service is happy to let random strangers dine with ex-Presidents without any vetting. They love the suspense.

And yet trump will likely still scold American Jews for not all supporting him, lacking honest advisors to explain it to him.

When the only reading he has done by choice seems to have been Hitler's speeches, you'd think he'd have a clue by now that moving our embassy & embracing the Netanyahu family isn't everything.

The Republican elites want Ron DeSantis to run almost as much as he wants to be President. But they are stuck with Trump. Their only hope is that Trump gets indicted and they can talk him into not running but getting pardoned by DeSantis. But they can’t run against him in a primary. Even if he loses he will deny his loss and claim the “fix” is in. Where does that leave them? If he even hints at a 3rd party the Republicans know that would sink them.
Trump is the Republican’s shit sandwich and their only hope that they won’t have to eat it is Trump’s legal problems finally sinking him.

According to West, he'd asked Trump to be his VP and Trump was outraged and upset.

Notwithstanding the spiral, Jeff Greenfield says Trump's people will try to control state primary, convention and caucus rules so they will favor him and he can get the GOP nomination again even without majority support. Did somebody say rigged?

Political parties are private, non-governmental operations. The RNC, if it wanted to, could rule Trump ineligible for the nomination and decree it will not seat Trump-pledged delegates at the nominating convention. This is how Democrats dealt with David Duke back in the day.

The choice of GOP elites to stick with Trump, if that's what it comes to, is very much that: a choice.

It's not Trump. It's the whole damn party. For anybody that matters anyway, inc. leadership, they're OK w/people meeting with Fuentes. If they changed the name to the American Nazi Party, would people start to understand?

    Robert Costa:

For over a decade, since I began tracking it, there has been a rising, online extreme media landscape that now churns daily, but it is often on closed social media groups outside of media glare. It is in these spaces where unvarnished hate about Jewish people, racism is rampant.

Nick Fuentes, while young, has gained major traction in these spaces. He links himself and his followers to core tenets of Trumpism by chanting “America First” and uses monologues in the style of Alex Jones to gain notoriety with a cackling, racist, and grim take on modern U.S.

As bad as it is, and it is bad, Trump can obfuscate and throw Kanye chaff into the air to distract. He knows that three weeks from now it will be "old news", especially since there are no visuals of the event. It's a PR disaster on paper, but those have less bite.

Exactly! The former guy (the LOSER!) has been, in Steve Bannon's words, "flooding the zone with sh*t" for years now. Don't do just the one unforgiveable, awful thing -- do many of them! And keep on doing it! Nobody can keep up, and they'll stop even trying.

The difference this time is that MAGAts have a viable alternative to Trump. Every incident like this will be the final straw for some of them who really want to win without the constant Trump drama, and they'll switch their support to DeSantis. Once they do, it's unlikely Trump can win them back.

Then it only remains to be seen whether DeSantis runs.

And in other news, pot calls kettle black while pretending that it never noticed its partner color during their several years together.

Breitbart still thinks that the worst Republican is better than the best Democrat and will, in every case, act accordingly.

  10. memfo

Trump will drop out the instant DeSantis promises him a full pardon and the Republican party kicks in a sweeter of a billion or so.

  11. DFPaul

I guess a lot of folks here are saying - and I agree - that’s not “losing” Breitbart, that’s winning Breitbart. It’s Breitbart saying: he’s still with us. I think.

    1. DFPaul

Sadly stuck with replying to myself! I take this dinner thing as more evidence for my theory that Trump is not really running for president, but is whipping up the base for indictment defense, and assumes his best play is endorsing whoever the R candidate is in 2024 in return for a promise of an immediate (that is, in January 2025) pardon.

  12. KJK

White supremist, racist, antisemitic, holocaust denying? These are the attributes that fuel the MAGA world. Its been just a few hours, and the outrage of this incident has already cooled on the mainstream media sites, and will be forgotten in just a few more days. If the pussy grabber tape didn't do him in in 2016, this certainly will not.

  13. jv

Kurt is completely misreading the tone. Brietbart wants to ask Trump what's next!

    Movie night? Hobo

Hunting in the field behind Trump Links?

Brietbart was listing their top 3 hoped-fore virtues and ticking the boxes.

  14. cmayo

Let's just be real here: Trump didn't "lose Breitbart" because he dined with whomever. They're mad at him because they think he lost them the midterms (insofar as they didn't win as much as expected). That's his real sin to them. They don't give a fuck if he hosts Holocaust deniers.

    1. Zephyr

Cue the 24/7 media obsession with every fart Trump makes. It works perfectly for him since his base eats it up, while the rest of us who would never vote for him no matter what get worked up into an eternal rage that obliterates all other actually important news.

  15. ConradsGhost

The task of all good, patriotic Americans from here forward is to buy tickets for all non-Liz Cheney/Adam Kinzinger Republicans - including but not limited to Mitch McConnell - for the MAGA train to Hades.
