I know you rely on me for the latest breaking news, so here it is: there is a prescribed burn being conducted in the Coconino National Forest south of Flagstaff. Do not report this fire. Repeat: DO NOT REPORT THIS FIRE. The US Forest Service thanks you for your cooperation.

Have they no rakes? …
Or, have they found a Bigfoot nest and they're burning it out with flame throwers?
No. Giant ants. Them!
They.
If we cannot be correct in the face of death what has it all been for?
Artistic license prevails here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Them!
These are they, then?
If I have them we can talk about them.
But if they're here, --well so they are.
Fire on the south of I-40 is on the Kaibab National Forest; fire on the north is on the Coconino NF.
6 out of 16 days so far in October in Phoenix have been 100°F+.
30 years ago in October, there were none for the entire month.
Let me guess: You reported the fire, and the ranger, in a bored and somewhat exasperated tone, explained that it was a prescribed burn.
DAMHIKT
No, there was a sign explaining that it was an "Rx burn" and NOT TO REPORT IT.
It took me a minute to figure out what "Rx burn" stood for, even though the meaning was obvious in context.
Well, let's hope it works out better for AZ than the last few "prescribed burns" did in New Mexico.
