Friday Cat Blogging – 13 August 2021

Enough with all this Roman cat nonsense; it's time to turn this space back over to the hometown cats who deserve it. Today's photo is a typical morning scene around here. We let the cats out and Hopper starts chewing on the grass or drinking out of the bird bath, while Hilbert steps out to make sure everyone knows who's in charge at this house. Answer: Hilbert, that's who. Anyone want to make something of it?

That is really an exceptional cat photo...a solid presence, the low angle of view works very well!

Be that as it may, the Perseids Meteor shower last night was great. It was surprisingly fabulous and I must add that if I can drive up the Angeles Crest Highway with all the light pollution from Los Angeles below, and see nine very good meteors with one fireball in half an hour, then most everyone should also be able to find somewhere moderately close to themselves also.

It is true that I was at the 3,330 ft level which helps even though it wasn't as high as possible, but still considering the light bleed from Los Angles, everyone else should have a good sky in that this is also a new moon.

It was also wonderful laying out even on the rocky ground with the cool night Breeze blowing across your body. There was the big Tipper off to the left and the great Dome of the night sky during the new moon stretching out above you.

This evening is supposed to be the best time to watch the Perseids. However it is Friday the 13th so be careful out there....lol...but enjoy.
    Best Wishes, Traveller

Sounds great! Sadly, here in NM, the meteor shower days always seem to coincide with Monsoon Season, and we get full to partial overcast nearly every night.

I agree with you on the composition of that photo. It really brings out "the feline gaze" -- that look that makes one doubt one's assumed position at the top of the evolutionary tree.
