Friday Cat Blogging – 18 August 2023

Last week you saw Charlie peering at Hilbert from a distant hedge. This week you get a closeup of Charlie in the hedge. He was having lots of fun that day, leaping out of the hedge and startling Hilbert, and then circling back to the hedge to do it again. Hilbert just wandered around the whole time, never really catching on.

In other words, Charlie is acting the same way he did when he was a kitten and you posted video of his stealth attacks. Da Big H is lucky to have a buddy who keeps the blood circulating. Maybe Charlie needs a new kitten who is more willing to play? (This advertisement is brought to you by the good people at “More Kittens! Always More Kittens!”)

Charlie no longer has that wide-eyed kittenish look. He's got the grim visage of the Adult Cat, most brutally effective predator in the world.

(Full disclosure: I now have two kittens, maybe 3 months old each.)

    Cats are not mean predators.

    They're pleasant, friendly predators.

They're not tormenting their prey, they're showing it one last good time until they're too exhausted to know they're being beheaded.
