Friday Cat Blogging – 19 November 2021

Marian and I decided long ago that we were a two-cat family, so we went looking for a new cat pretty quickly after Hopper died. I had already decided I wanted to get a kitten, since we haven't had one around here for a very long time, and we got lucky on our first visit to the Irvine animal shelter.

Meet Charlie, a 9-week-old gray tabby with explosive amounts of kitten energy. He is very sociable and very much a lap cat so far. Uncle Hilbert is wary but doing OK.

Why Charlie? What did we name him after? Charles Dickens? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Prince Charles? Vietnam slang for enemy troops? The masculine version of Charlotte? Perhaps someday I will unravel this mystery for you.

As you can imagine, I've got a million pictures already, which makes it hard to choose just one. So I won't. Here's a whole bunch of photos to show off Charlie's many moods.

I still think Bokeh would be better 🙂

Charlie… either he has a brother or father named Victor, or Marian thinks he smells like her favorite perfume.

Welcome!! Now Just deliver the cutie pie to me. … I lost a old cat recently and I’m itching to get my own Charlie when I can afford it.

Congrats on your new little frisky! Those eyes! The pictures immediately brought back memories of our long deceased gray tabby, Sampson. He, too, was Mr. Gregarious and did the most amazing back flips when taunted by a peacock feather wiggling around above his head.

I was interesting in reading the book titles. larger photo so I can see more of what you read.
We had two sister cats that the children watched being born in our closet. The cats lasted 20 years. Grew up with our children.

    Well, that's adorably cute.

But ... Charlie? Great: you've acquired a male cat called Charlie, while John Scalzi, one of the few other bloggers I read, has recently acquired a -female- -dog- called Charlie.
