Charlie has been under the weather a bit, so we finally took him to the vet and shot him up with antibiotics. He perked up immediately and, as you can see, is looking fine now.
However, the whole affair was traumatic for Hilbert. As soon as he saw us put Charlie in the cat carrier he ran away and hid.
I feel like I can see the open refrigerator door reflecting in his eyes.

Perhaps Hilbert feared that Charlie was being taken away for his "final trip." And that he might be next.
Such empathetic buds or, you’re not taking me!
Home, relaxed but alert & unafraid of a future vet visit if he is ailing, if he associates the carrier with feeling better after the trip.
????????????
I've been giving my cats a treat of canned tuna, human quality, after every vist to the vet. They still dread being put into that carrier.
"It's just a shot, Charlie. You've had many of these, right?"
Heartbeat growing louder, blood rushing through -- whoa, what was that? With constricted pupils, Charlie wasn't feeling fine; he was feeling fucking awesome when can we go home and damn I'm hungry can we stop somewhere and hey where the hell is Hilbert and shouldn't we go to the pet store to grab some snacks." What a rush, thought Charlie.
"The effects will wear off in a couple of hours and it'll take a couple of days for Charlie to get back to normal. Maybe cut back on the catnip. By the way, how's Hilbert doing?"
Charlie was in a rush. Things to do, things to see, pranks to play on Hilbert. Ah hell, what are we still doing in the animal place when we have more important things to do?
"Hilbert? He's plotting to take over the neighborhood and conquer the other cats."
Two hours later and the world is slowing down. Charlie looks up. "Can I haz another?"
And all these years, we thought it was cheezburgers.
“ As soon as he saw us put Charlie in the cat carrier he ran away and hid.”
Has Da Big H ever had a positive experience with the Box of Doom?
“You’ll never take me alive, vet-enabler!”
