Health update

Let's just get right to it:

This is tentative. We won't know anything for sure until we get the results of the PET scan at the end of next month. But it strongly suggests that my prostate cancer hasn't spread to the lymph nodes.

This is very good news. Once prostate cancer has metastasized to the lymph nodes it becomes very difficult to treat.

We still don't know if the cancer has spread to my bones because the bone scan was inconclusive. The "suspicious" activity it detected might be from the prostate cancer or it might be picking up the bone lesions I already have from multiple myeloma. Or it might be nothing but age-related degeneration. We'll have to wait for the PET scan to know for sure.

    Fingers crossed!

(I'm sure you don't believe that helps, but as Bohr supposedly said about a horseshoe nailed over the door to his lab, "I understand it brings good luck whether you believe in it or not.")

Don't go and die on us, KD. There are only so many places I can go for a dose of policy-thick, internet sanity, and you're top shelf.

👍👍👍👍👍I couldn't agree more. A rare political/general information site that is basically full of grownups.

You betcha. The NYT[1] and WaPo comments & content are positively inane and uninformed compared to what's served here, and at no charge to boot.

[1]The only reason I still have a subscription to the NYT is to read the stylings of Paul Krugman, who in addition to exonomics content also serves up some excellent Facing the Music links.

I, along with everyone here, am hoping for the best.

My own reasons are selfish. I can't find a blogger whom I like better, so I want you to stick around.

Fantastic news. Your previous post on this topic had been weighing on me despite the fact we've never met. Don't be shy about getting second and third and fourth opinions (I'm sure you're not, but still).

Hopefully your PSA is staying low though like all lab tests it may be, occasionally, misleading if it stays low.

Celebrating this fantastic news from here in southeast Michigan, where your reach is powerful and essential!

This is good news. Sigh of relief and fingers and toes crossed that the next test result will be just as positive. Take care!

I'm just grateful that you're getting the care you need, and the oversight to make sure of your health.

Wishing you the best. Like others, I depend on you for sensible insights in a time when such is not the coin-of-the-realm.

I kept wondering why there was no update yesterday, finally deciding the delay might mean adverse news. This is hopeful news, so I hope that you & Marian can keep looking for more results that are encouraging. I can only imagine what delays in results mean for you.
