Health update

I forgot to mention that I'm out of the hospital and back home. In fact, I came home yesterday. I was scheduled to stay until today, but I made a nuisance of myself and bullied them into releasing me early.

Why? This was my third time getting a treatment with a risk of causing Cytokine Release Syndrome and I've never suffered even a hint of it. I just seem to be one of the lucky ones. This time around, there were exactly zero problems. No side effects; no fever; excellent counts and stable vitals the entire time; and I felt great. So I came home. The odds of a last-second collapse seemed minuscule and I was tired of twiddling my thumbs in the hospital bed.

All that's left now is to see if the Tecvayli works. That is, I'm sure it will work, but the question is how long it works. A key date is roughly August 2026, when I'll be two years out from my prostate cancer treatment. That means I'll once again be eligible for clinical test treatments if there are any promising ones around. It will be a few months before we have a better handle on all this.

Ah. What we used to call a non-compliant patient who left AMA. Ahh yes, I remember the type.
But I’m happy for you, Marion and the cats

I once came within a few minutes of leaving a hospital "against medical advice". At midnight, the doctor told me I was fine and could leave the next morning. At 8 a.m., the junior nurse told me that the doctor hadn't filled out the paperwork properly, so I couldn't leave. She also refused to remove my IV, which at that point hurt like all get out, because I hadn't been cleared for release. I asked her (politely!) to please find someone who could overrule the decision. I think I shocked the nurse's aide who came in a few moments later when I declined (politely! -- none of this was her fault) to let her take my temperature. Fortunately, the next person I saw was the senior nurse, whose comment was, "I don't know why nobody around here knows how to fill out the paperwork properly, but I do."

But that's all just grousing. The good new is, Kevin is home!

I once had to spend a night in the hospital simply because the MRI was backed up enough that mine happened at 5:30pm, and the radiologist who needed to sign off on it had already left for the day.

You weren't even getting that snarky on Evil Dex this time.

Ok, I kinda liked that side effect.

I hope you keep doing well.

Glad things are going in the right direction for you.

Your transparency on what could be a private matter is remarkable. And the level-headed presentation is admirable.
