I've recovered from all the side effects of the Talvey trial in September—or so I thought. One of the odder side effects listed on the package insert was that it could wreck your fingernails. And it has. It was just an extremely delayed effect, presumably because fingernails grow slowly.
About a week ago I noticed a weird ridge on a couple of my fingernails. Eventually that spread to all of them. You can see it on the left.
A few days after the ridge appears, the top of the fingernail falls off. It doesn't hurt or anything, because there's already a new fingernail growing underneath. But it's pretty short and scraggly. That's the picture on the right.
Hopefully this only happens once and then my fingernails are back to normal. We'll see.
TMI?
Strange things have happened to my finger and toenails as I get older. I figure it's just the body slowly running out of spare parts.
Just want to say, if this blogging thing doesn't work out for you, you can always go in for hand modeling. It pays up to 100K/year. Glad your nails are almost ready to paint again! And mostly that you've recovered from the treatment.
Thank you for....sharing???
In a semi-related event, I recently gave my cat a topical anti-flea treatment because she was frantically scratching due to fleas. The treatment killed the fleas but she continues to scratch more than usual because the treatment dries out her skin. Still I'd rather she had dry skin than fleas. I just wish there weren't side effects. In any event, good luck going forward!
Not TMI--in fact, I'm curious now about your toenails.
Oh boy...

Just me, huh?
I have thyroid disease which results in the same-or at least very similar- condition. Having tried everything under the sun, I finally found one thing that works. It's a cream called "Hard as Hoof". You can find it on Amazon. And it's cheap.
