    I'm a 20 year follower too. We're about the same age.

    Maybe I can offer some optimism here.

    2 years ago I was in the hospital for pneumonia for 2 months. Cardiac arrest. Revived from death. Intubated for 3 weeks. Drugged up on fentanyl. Then a tracheotomy. Then months of rehab.

    It was fucking hell.

    But here I am today, alive and kicking and in better health than before. I play pickleball everyday. 30 pounds lighter.

    There is hope for him.

    I hope you're able to hear and/or read these comments Kevin. I've been reading almost daily for over 20 years, and your regular and long-time readers are here because we care deeply about our country, our communities and our families.

    Your blogging connects to that deep need in us to understand and make the world better. You've cut through media filters (BS, in many cases) with empathy and pragmatism, explaining complex topics and citing your data, so we can set our beliefs based on actual evidence and critical thinking.

    At the risk of overstating it, we're here because we care, and you've fed that need to care for decades now. You've been a constant presence for many of us and have been a force for good over that time. As sincerely as I can say it to an Internet stranger, thank you. THANK YOU. I hope you recover and are able to get the rest (or do the work!) you need. You deserve it.
