Health update

Pneumonia appears slightly better today. Maybe. Hard to tell for sure.

My oncologist finally showed up this afternoon and finally agreed my immune system was shot. A multiple myeloma specialist tells me this is a common side effect of bispecific therapies like Talvey. Oh. So we've agreed on a treatment that spurs regrowth of immunoglobulins. It will take a week or three to have an effect. It's too bad we didn't start this three weeks ago when we first knew.

I generally feel slightly better today than yesterday. Maybe tomorrow will be even better.

Oh, and it turns I have a colon infection. That's at least four so far.

"A multiple myeloma specialist tells me this is a common side effect of bispecific therapies like Talvey. Oh."

    That "Oh."

Kevin is still an artist with an understatement.

Like everyone else here, I'm sure, this back-from-the-edge-of-the-grave post came as an indescribable relief.

And now I can say in earnest: Get well soon Cal Pundit--the Republic needs you now more than ever!

This is the better news that we were all hoping and praying for. May this be the beginning (again!) of a new positive trend. So happy to see your new post today. Hope you get some rest tonight and the best medical care possible, too.

If you want some healthy encouragement, go read the impromptu tribute page that popped up in the comments to your last post, when we all thought we might not hear from you again. I think I speak for the whole audience when I say that we're really glad you're still with us.

How do you spell RELIEF....so happy to hear positive news. One atheist to another while I don't pray, I will say rest, take care and continue the fight. You are the master of grace and grit. Respect.

So you need a week, please don’t stress, take sleeping pills or whatever, the body is doing its stuff, things are looking up, but it’s not over, pneumonia requires constant attention. Also, make sure your body has the necessary ingredients (iron, magnesium, vitamin D, etc.).

Take all the time you need to get better - this is truly truly truly wonderful news that things are looking better. We're a patient bunch - we'll wait.

And tell Marian to smack that doctor upside the head for not heading this off before it got to this state.

Whew, I can say how relieved to hear from you! I was concerned that we had received our last message. Thank you so much for updating us so soon.
Be kind to your colon with nice soft foods for a while.
I’m so happy that you are back!

Glad to see you’re still with us. Take your time attending to your health needs. Maybe just give Marian your login info so she can update us every so often while you’re gone.

Basically things in the United States are pretty rough right now.

But this blog post gave me a huge smile.

KD, I'm cheering you on and hoping for a smooth recovery from here... good luck!

None of us knows how long his stay on this beautiful rock might be. Yours has benefited countless people, so of course we all want it to continue. Who knows if prayers or affirmations work, but holding the thought that it will be better tomorrow can't hurt.

So, be as well as you can and hold gratitude for every new moment as long as you can.

    Kevin-
I get an infusion of a drug called Octagam, which boosts my IV/g. I don't know where I'd be without it, but with it, I'm running about 450. Not normal, but if you could get there, you'd have a fighting chance!

    Good luck, my friend!
