The Hunter Biden case keeps getting weirder and weirder:
The lawyer who represented Hunter Biden in plea negotiations to end a five-year Justice Department investigation into tax and gun offenses stepped down early Tuesday, saying that he intends to testify as a witness on behalf of the president’s son.
....This week, Abbe Lowell, a veteran lawyer in Washington who has represented a wide range of clients, including Jared Kushner, filed court documents indicating he now represented Mr. Biden in the case.
How often does this happen? I can't remember a case like it. Lawyers step down all the time for various reasons, but stepping down so you can testify for your client? That's pretty unusual.
I'm starting to suspect that the Biden team is starting to focus on all the Trumpy shenanigans around the laptop, the evidence against Hunter, and how influence was applied to hacks like Shapley in order to trump up charges back in 2018. They seem to have developed a theory that they can get this all tossed as hopelessly corrupted.
I'm betting they're right. None of the Hunter conspiracy theories ever passed the smell test.
I haven't been following Huntergate all that closely, but I believe this case involves his tax evasion and his purchase of a firearm in which he did not disclose that he had a drug problem. Maybe I've missed something, but I don't think the laptop is involved here.
The current “special prosecutor” had five years to investigate all things Hunter but the tax and gun charges were all that he could find admissible evidence to prove.
Exactly. And if all of that is tied up in stuff they learned by the "laptop" (which looks increasingly like they hacked his accounts while on a bender and then made up the laptop story as a cover) then basically the whole thing is hopelessly corrupted by the Trumpers' bad actions. It's possible that the defense tugged on a thread and see the unraveling.
I have my first check for $13,000. I have a lot of energy so I always have something first. p10 Now I’m going to work a lot harder and barely finish next week’s episode. q I strongly encourage everyone to sign up. .

Yeah, I'm getting this feeling, too.
To say this in Washingtonese, they're making lemonade by turning this into a Rope-a-Dope.
If that's right, Rudy911 is going to be a smoking hole in the ground by the time this is over.
I suspect that that Clark will be able to testify about some extremely dodgy and unethical behavior by the prosecutors during the plea bargain negotiations. The Judge also smelled a rat when she refused to go along with the deal
Can't find it now, but apparently (grain of salt, read it on the internet), all HB's attorneys' notes regarding the plea deal indicate that the deal was supposed to cover everything and end the investigation in total, whereas Weiss says that's not true, hence the breakdown / non-acceptance by the judge of the plea deal.
To enter the notes as evidence, and act as a witness in any trial or proceeding, Clark can't be HB's attorney going forward.
How would someone on the Internet know the privileged contents of Hunter Biden's attorneys notes?
Clark's the one who negotiated the plea deal, isn't he? He'd be able to testify to whatever representations the Weiss team gave them about what the deal meant, among other things. That could be in preliminary phases or, if admissible, at a trial.
Marcy Wheeler thinks Hunter Biden's new lead, Abbe Lowell, is going on the offensive, or at least serving notice that he's more than willing to (and nobody doubts that he knows how), per a post about Lowell yesterday. This sure could be a move in that direction, freeing up Clark to testify to what Weiss doesn't want public.
The way I read that post, her view is that pre-trial discovery is likely to turn up a whole bunch of evidence, or questions, about undue political pressures and other kinds of procedural problems that Clark would have overlooked because he wanted to wrap up a plea deal. In fact she says problems like that are probably why Weiss was eager to get to a plea himself rather than move toward a trial, because he gave up a lot of leverage when he initiated the idea.
On this reading, the laptop is really just a symptom of bigger problems in how Weiss has handled this case, and Lowell is pressing directly on the sore spot.
Some case, any case must take those t-Rumpites down, and their unethical lawyers to boot. I am so tired of the repulsives running around trying to corral anyone that has a D or d or related to Biden. This is so childishly pathetic.
Maybe, just maybe, the take down of t-Rump will awaken them but then, aren't they already "woke".
I'm not sure how, but I AM sure that this will be taken as yet another indicator of Joe Biden's corruption.
NYTimes Pitchbot will figure out how . . .
