sure, but to quote Kodos "tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom! ".

Well, I'm white, male, older, San Diego, hetero and married, all of which suggests I would vote for Trump.
But then, I'm also a college-educated atheist who loves the outdoors, and those factors suggest Harris.
I contain multitudes. As do most people.

I give up! But I will say that after reading your MSG posts last night I got up this morning and drove 20 miles to vote early, after thinking I'd wait and vote on Election Day. No. I could not and would not wait. This ballot was particularly satisfying, as I was also able to vote for NC Governor and Attorney General.

The Mrs and I both voted yesterday here in Wilmington NC.
I think I broke the black pen filling in the circle for Josh Stein. Anybody would be better than Robinson thats for sure. Fortunately Josh Stein IS a serious candidate and I would have voted for him no matter who was running against him
I DID note that we had at least three down ballot races where the D candidates were unopposed. That struck me as slightly odd

The Mrs and I struck up a conversation with a young couple in front of us while we waited 40 minutes to vote. I remarked that having both D and R party people so close to the line was bothersome to both of us, and that ANY candidate that would address this issue would get my vote. They laughed at that but did agree that we need to "De-politicize" the actual act of voting. Keep the party people at least 500 feet away.
But as they say IT is done

MEOOOOOW. You have better had voted for the Hilbert & Charlie Kibble ticket. Slogan: a lizard in every pot. Kitties know

Uhhhh, nobody? Something something both sides have a point something too much rancor something tone down the rhetoric and why can't we just stop arguing and solve problems together?

Or no, you left the ballot ENTIRELY BLANK as a HEROIC ACT OF PROTEST against the CORRUPTION of the system and its FAILURE to meet PRESSING NEEDS, such as [insert long but oh-so-very-carefully curated list of grievances].

Oh wait, I know, you didn't actually vote because the whole thing is just SO depressing and one single vote can't POSSIBLY make a difference, and besides it's a pain and you've got other things to do and who REALLY cares anyway, right?

[Note: this is not making fun of KD]

We are probably doing early voting Wednesday. Mail in ballots in NYS in previous years did not get opened and counted until many days after election day. In my "swing" district, my down ballot votes are far more critical than the top of the ticket.

They recently changed the law, so it is unclear when the mail in and absentee ballots will be counted this time around.

    1. Ken Rhodes

To me, the worst thing about guessing when the mail-in ballots will be counted is trying to guess the odds that my ballot would survive the USPS and get delivered. For that reason, I have frequently in my lifetime taken advantage of early voting in person (shorter waiting time at the polling place, easier parking, friendly poll workers due to being unharried, etc.), but I have never put my ballot in the US mail.

We dropped our completed mail-in ballots in the lockbox outside our county election board office the same day we received them. (Maryland). We heard from them that they were received the next day. Its so nice to know our not-determinative votes are banked against the inevitable steal-attempt.

WHEN your vote is counted really doesn't matter. IF your vote is counted is the critical factor. That's why I agree with Ken Rhodes and don't mail.

Are you sure about that? I have concerns about the possibility that President Hilbert might seize the nation's tuna water.

Only one of the candidates is promising to stop the risk of transgender kids from regretting their decision, so we know who KD selected.

      yup.

still waiting to see when kd goes on the blocked 'n reported podcast to riff on he-shes with jessie singal & katy hercog.

  6. RantHaven

Obviously, you did the right thing and voted for (KDrumroll please)…

Ralph “A seatbelt in every pot!” Nader!!!1!!1!

On a semi-serious note, I took our absentee ballots to the town office, carried in my messenger bag while riding my motorcycle. Felt very not-terribly-secret-agentish.

    I voted last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, there have been 2 ballot boxes set on fire in Portland / Vancouver, Washington and the Linn County Democrats' office was hit by vandalism.

Expect a lot of political violence.
