Starting on Monday, there will be people waiting for them with nets to catapult them back over the border.
So the economy is generally in really good shape (inflation, jobs, stock market) and the border crossings are under control.
Good time for across the board tariffs, starting a shit flinging fight with multiple countries (mostly our allies), and deporting those folks who do jobs that most "Americans" don't want to do.
That said, Sleepy Joe did nothing for over 3 years, and completely surrendered the issue to MAGA, while that POS Abbott shipped 120,000 migrants to sanctuary cities, a brilliantly effective political maneuver.
Whatever else it may have been, it was quite effective showing that sanctuary isn’t free.

Effectively, is not the major difference between these two groups, a simple phrase: 'I have a creditable fear for my life, in my home country'
No. People who present themselves at border crossings and say 'I have a creditable fear for my life, in my home country' are not attempting to cross the border illegally; they are seeking legal admission to the country. Those who are trying to cross the border illegally are not presenting themselves at border crossings.
Setting blame aside, the fact is that border encounters have been higher during every single month of the Biden admin than in any during the last 2 decades, excepting a couple month spike during Trump admin. I know this chart only goes back 10 years, but I think this is true.
The Abbot stunt was cruelly handled, but it was a pretty effective wake up call for those of us blue state Democrats who had conveniently ignoring what was happening in the border cities.
What are you blathering about? What matters is not "encounters", but "responses". The last time I looked President Obama's terms were both begun and completed during "the last two decades" and he oversaw the deportation of roughly twice as many illegal residents per month as either Biden or Trump in their highest volume months.
How can there be illegal border crossings? I was given to understand the Biden & Harris opened the border four years ago. Millions or more cross every year to commit violent crimes, eat household pets, and get free sex change operations. It was on the news.
Excellent points. All the wingnuts I consort with insist that the border with Mexico is totally "open." I suspect they have not been to said border lately, if ever.
