January 6 prosecutors demoted to entry-level jobs

Trump attack dog Ed Martin, the US Attorney for Washington DC, has demoted seven prosecutors in the DC office:

The prosecutors are among a larger group targeted for “retribution” by President Donald Trump...because of their roles in Jan. 6 Capitol seditious conspiracy and riot cases and others, including ones involving Trump allies such as advisers Stephen K. Bannon and Peter Navarro, according to eight people close to the office, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.

The seven prosecutors were notified by email Friday morning of their immediate removal from high-ranking supervisory or senior roles.... They were reassigned to misdemeanors or early case assessment screening in D.C. Superior Court, the people said.

These people didn't even do anything to Trump. They just got assigned to January 6 cases and then did their jobs prosecuting them. But no matter. Maximal revenge anyway.

Isn't that clear grounds for wrongful demotion? Like, wtf. Why do they think courts will allow this sort of thing?

A one-off is hard to prove, but once there's multiple plaintiffs, courts tend to find that more persuasive.

No, he's making an example. It isn't revenge, it is training.

The law means what Donnie says it is, or else.

      +1

Totally making an example in case anyone is thinking of coming at him and colluding with his enemies. He could have just cleaned house, but he chose humiliation.

"America’s health care system is neither healthy, caring, nor a system. —Walter Cronkite"

Long after Trump, Vance and Musk are gone, we will still be stuck with our health care system. It is the tolerance for iniquities that ultimately brings about a Trump.

They may ultimately do us a favor there. The problem with getting to a national health care system is all the convoluted knots and threads built up over decades. By blowing up the system, it gives us a chance to build the one want, that’s not encumbered by decades of deals, partnerships and entrenched financial stakeholders.

Well sure… this is expected and what the people voted for.

Give up. The war is over and we lost. Surrender. Or, you know, find some MAGA family, coworkers, or neighbors and kick their ass. Ha! Not gonna happen cowards.

Please stop using the first person plural pronoun when you post here. You are not one of us.

Better yet, just quit posting here.

Generally, communities decide this for themselves, and naming-and-shaming and pressure to self-ostracize are tried and true practices.

I have no problem with it as long as it's civil, and this certainly is. The comments section here is basically always civil.

          But that doesn't mean we can't self-police.

Don’t have go to the trouble of kicking ass on MAGA family, coworkers or neighbors. That’s the one job Donald and Leon are quite good at.

Your Debbie Downer routine is not the least bit entertaining. I suggest you start your own blog and spare the rest of us your defeatist attitude.

      1. Justin

I get it. Realism is not for the faint of heart. I’m not defeatist, but I am in favor of strategic withdrawal. Y’all need to decide what it is you want to achieve. It’s not clear to me any of you know. Not even Mr. Drum.

If my tone is off putting then perhaps it’s because many are in denial whereas I’ve made it all the way to acceptance in the stages of grief. I’m confident you’ll catch up. Eventually.

I am glad you are making progress. Never been there, but, congratulations.

Slightly OT: To those who think this administration's lawyers won't be sanctioned or found in contempt, I guess we'll find out. It's better to quit than being used as throw-away pawns. You are not a firewall; you're an obstacle and one way or another, you'll be eliminated. All you have is your cred and pride.
