Lunchtime Photo

Last week I told you I had three wildflowers I had never been able to identify. So why not let you guys take a crack at all of them? Here is mystery picture #2, a medium-size violet flower with dark violet stripes.

UPDATE: Probably a common mallow.

my plant identifying phone app says common mallow, aka high mallow, marsh mallow, cheese flower, blue mallow.

not sure how accurate that is, especially taking a pic off my laptop, but looks right to me.

Sighh88 you are correct. Wild geranium have more rounded petals and more pronounced "cuts" in the leaves.
Yes, what is the word on Hooper? ?

The structure of the pistil and stamens is different, too. In a geranium, there's a long, pointed stigma on the pistil in the center, with the stamens arrayed around it a fair bit away. In mallows (including hibiscus), the stamens are usually tightly clustered around the pistil, giving it a brush-like appearance.

Hopper is fine. I was at the vet this morning and her wound is almost totally healed. Also, it looks like everything is still alive down there. We should know for sure on Saturday.
