Lunchtime Photo

Enough of this drone nonsense. Let's return to regular photography.

This is a picture of the Trajan Market in Rome. Unlike Americans—the ones here in Southern California, anyway—the good folks in Rome light up their monuments handsomely at night. This may or may not be a frugal policy, but it's certainly great for insomniac photographers.

Mayor Daley II was impressed with the lighting of buildings in Paris on a visit there and had Chicago do that with a number of their buildings on his return. I believe that this is still a practice, although it's been a while since I've been downtown at night.

Washington, DC is another town that is well lit at night. Quite beautiful though security theater has gotten in the way of some of the beauty these days.

I remember seeing the Wrigley Building when it stood out as the only externally lit-up building. That was a long time ago. The mayor would have been Daley I at the time, but he might not have had anything to do with the lights.

It looks much more restored than when I was last in Rome, (BTW, I still have a Rome ticket waiting with United never used because of Covid.)

Be that as it may, I'd like to drop off two links for fun and amazement! (actually, I eventually would like to drop off my easy border fix...under current law, but I'm working so, later).

For now, true bravely (or foolishness?)

...be sure to click on the volumn so you can hear the angy hissing....What?...lol

You ARE aware that this "drone nonsense" means you won't have to ride to the top of the Ferris wheel to get a panoramic view of the Orange County fair anymore.
    Right?
Or the drone could take photos of empty highway on/off ramps in the middle of the night while you stand peacefully in a parking lot nearby.

    its not nonsense.
