This is a Texas ragwort, a disagreeable name for what's really a lovely little flower. But maybe it has a dark side I don't know about?

When ragwort turned to the dark side . . .
the flowers are dried, ground up and sprinkled into the eyes of the zombie . . .
the zombie is then led to the polling place . . .
most people flee the approach of the zombie, so only the zombie votes.
IHNRAC, but if you say so.
the dark side? it's considered toxic to cattle. but for a more appropriate name, considering its lovely looks, how about calling it texas butterweed* instead?
*per the lady bird johnson wildflower center
Longhorn peeblossom.
"Rag" from "ragged leaf" and "wort" meaning "weed" or so thirty seconds on Google taught me...
Unless the name "Texas" is what's upsetting.
Texas is not entirely disagreeable.
+1
There are so many species of ragwort that look similar that I wouldn't be confident narrowing it down to species without a close examination of the leaves, etc.
In the Pacific NW we have Tansy Ragwort, which is considered a noxious weed because of its toxicity to cattle. The good news is the Oregon Department of Agriculture introduced the beautiful Cinnabar moth in the sixties to feed on the Tansy.
Up here on in the San Juan’s it’s a noxious weed..kills livestock…we’re required to pull it out….the moths try their best…but no match for the tansy….it was introduced on Orcas in 1989 after the major destructive storm…apparently the heavy equipment brought in the seeds on their tires….a long time islander lost their entire stock of cattle and she became the activist to make eradication a requirement. If I fail to pull the tansy and she spots it…I find a reminder on my mailbox..
