The airplane is just an airplane, but I love the sunset colors in this photo. It was taken out the window as my plane taxied for takeoff at Houston Intercontinental Airport.

  We've been having gorgeous sunset in the DC area too, I think there's extra particles in air from all the wildfires and now the huge volcano eruption.

I think it is a 787, with a 737 in the air behind it. Nice pic!

  Yup, 787. So not "just a plane," it's a fairly revolutionary plane!
  
  Most likely a 737, based on odds of a plane that looks about that size with that style of winglet, and the short landing gear. Could be an Airbus, they started doing that style winglet on the A319/320/321, and I can't see the rear vertical stabilizer well enough to see it's older design vs more modern.
  
  Could be an Embraer.

I started blogging in 2002 at my own site. In 2004 I got hired by the Washington Monthly and then moved to Mother Jones in 2008, where I blogged and wrote for the print magazine for 12 years. Finally, in 2021, I came full circle, leaving MoJo to once again blog at my own site.

Prior to blogging, I was vice president of marketing for Kofax Image Products, a software company in Irvine, California. I’m married, no kids, two cats. In 2014 I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. It’s currently incurable, but modern treatments are pretty good and I remain alive and hopeful that a cure is on the way.
