    For some reason, those blooms facing different directions seem cheery as a result, maybe because this area has gone from a high of 81°F or so to a freeze warning a day or two later. Very nice compact bouquet.

    I think I like primroses better than the overbred, innumerably-petaled, scentless roses that are so popular. They have an elegant simplicity and beauty. Good photo!

    Evening-primrose (Oenothera), not to be confused with "true" primrose (Primula).

    Evening-primrose flowers have fourfold symmetry and a conspicuous cross-shaped stigma, while primrose flowers have fivefold symmetry and an inconspicuous stigma.

    This one is probably pinkladies (O. speciosa). Depending on who you ask, it is either native to the southern Great Plains, and is a garden escape anywhere else you find it, or it's native to all of the Lower 48 south of roughly 40°N.
