One of the things about cruising down a river is that you never know exactly where you are. I shot this picture on Sunday morning at sunrise, and I think it's the Église Saint-Sauveur du Petit-Andely. I may find out for sure on our way back. But for now that's my best guess.

Don't see any flying buttresses in your photo.
Considering that the church and everything but the sky above it is entirely in silhouette, I'm not sure how that is relevant at all.
Two general thoughts about the challenge of identifying landmarks:
(1) Somebody's driving the boat. That person knows *exactly* where you are and what you're seeing. He has a Chart which is just chock full of that kind of information.
(2) Does the GPS in your phone work when you're halfway around the world? If it does, you have access to a chart that's almost as good as the Captain's navigation chart, and it's a lot better in one way--identifying all kinds of landmarks along the water *and* near the water.
While you're there, here's a French circus ca. 1902,

I can imagine about thirty stories that explain this, all of them end with the dog fleeing to America with his girlfriend.
Lovely photo
when do we see a Rodin Museum's picture?
