I like industrial landscapes so these power lines marching down the highway are sort of appealing.
At Taliesin West in Arizona, you can see the original prewar power line that enraged Frank Lloyd Wright by ruining the landscape. Single wooden poles maybe 20 feet tall, with one wire running from pole to pole. Almost literally invisible today when we're used to scenes like Kevin's Victorville photo.

I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searchin' in the sun for another overload

Wow, I was gonna post that thought too. As soon as I saw the photo, the song sprang up in my head.

They’ve got themselves a convoy. Which one is the Rubber Duck?-)

Very evocative. A good shot.
If that road were instead a HSR line, that picture would be perfect.

What, no uranium mine? No cement plant? I don’t think you’re trying nearly hard enough

This photo proves that the Flat Earthers and Round Earthers are both wrong: The surface of the Earth is concave!

I've been on 395 in CA: it's actually quite a fascinating road. For some reason, there's an amazing antiques store, Kramer Junction Antiques, sitting out there in the middle of the desert on 395. It's worth a visit for anyone who ever happens to be driving through the Mojave!

Are all those cars in the right lane the ones that are leaving California?

You have to take into account the fact that in California, the desert starts from below sea level.

Bingo. The high desert is next to Death Valley, the low desert.
Ghost of Warren Zevon
And of course, it's one lane either way, and at the front of that line is at least one RV, the driver hunched over the wheel alternately muttering and yelling "Would you please shut those damn kids up!!"
