Lunchtime Photo

Here's an entire trip from Paris to Los Angeles in four photos. From the top: (a) our plane, (b) the village of Goussainville, about 30 seconds after takeoff, (c) Hudson Bay, halfway home, and (d) crossing the San Diego Freeway, about 30 seconds before landing.

I used to watch planes, at my elevation in the Tisman building, land on the north runway. Back in the day when I had free parking at LAX.

The 1st picture could be....something better, it is not bad....but it could have been taken in Minnesota with an Air France take off from there

    Otherwise, very very good.

Still, your 2nd image upon going larger gave me pause...it is great, don't get me wrong, but these tended farm fields seen from the air all across Europe and the UK seem so lovely, so ideal....and yet I don't see them in the United States...big fields to be sure...but they give an entire different sense of the the corresponding society.

Could I live in either of them? (it is member's night tonight at LACMA and as unhappy as I may be with LACMA, I won't find this in Iowa or rural France)

The SD freeway shot...impressed me also.

I do thank you for these...if I didn't find them to be important, I would not have taken the time to comment....so, thank you really.

    Best Wishes, T

Interesting fact about Goussainville: the old part of the town is now largely a ghost town, because when the airport was built, by law the developers had to buy out any residents who didn't want to be directly under the flight path, at very generous terms. For complicated reasons, many of the deserted buildings are still standing. Details here:

Dear Mike, thank you so very much for this video...I have real work to do, but I was enthralled...just a fine way to think and ponder and spend a little time. Thanks again. Best Wishes, T

You are most welcome. At the moment I don't have real work to do, so finding videos and such on unexpectedly interesting topics is one of my joys.
      Best Wishes, Mike
