    I think it's an Orange-crowned Warbler. The diffuse streaking on the upper breast and what appears to be a darker cheek are better for that species than for Yellow Warbler. The coastal subspecies of Orange-crowned Warbler (lutescens) is quite a bit brighter yellow than the others, almost as bright as a Yellow Warbler.

    Orange-crowned Warblers are also by far the more common of the two in southern California in February.

    Geez, I’ve got a suet feeder here at home and I know how the birds use it upside down. That was a joke. A weak one, but a joke nonetheless.
    We did however hear our barred owl calling for the first time last night. Spring is springing here in Maine.

    Warblers are stupid hard to identify. There's just too many of them and their appearance differs only slightly.
