Here are last night's fireworks. This year I decided to trek around to the far side of the lake and shoot with our (patriotically lighted) bridge in the foreground. Much hilarity ensued because my flashlight didn't work and I kept fumbling with the camera buttons. Eventually I got everything set right and captured a few good images. This is one of them.

Here, in the noise and firebugs paradise, for years the entire month of June and the first week of July would be like the Battle of the Marne, with every third backyard having rockets flying out of it, but that stopped almost entirely with the lockdown. This year it recovered to only three nights of hours long explosions, screaming and cacophony, including some kind of bomb that went off right outside my bedroom window throwing me out of bed.
How can veterans with PTSD possibly stand it?
Yes, nice pic…
All the colors...
That's really excellent! Particularly since it's so hard to capture that kind of short-lived phenomenon.
Last night, after a patriotic parade of the residents around the neighborhood (children on decorated bikes, dogs festooned appropriately, everybody having been issued a flag, and a Model A bringing up the rear), the illegal fireworks commenced! And in spite of the city requirement that none go over 10 feet high, residents managed to set off near-professional grade HUGE airbursts. No arrests -- or injuries, as far as we know.
