This species is native to the Southwest. I looked at the Minnesota invasive species list, and couldn't find any lupines.
Large-leaved lupine is an invasive species in many places outside of North America (e.g., New Zealand).

I hadn't heard of it, but like the photo, as well as the fact that it is a plant that is apparently attractive to both bees & Monarch butterflies . The link below gives a slightly different common name: grape soda lupine.
