Here on the grounds of Melk Abbey in Austria, Marian has just walked through the Circle of Power. What superpowers do you think she gained?

Awkwardly she is now in a different timeline. If you didn't walk through right after her, well, --do you find you're remembering things differently?

The ability to tolerate hot takes?

I did not spend much time at the abbey, or really any time at all...but from the outside it appeared to a filthy rich place...Huge and painted an off yellow....all of which seemed to contradict The Name of The Rose narrative...but on the other hand, the richness of Melk may have demonstrated in concrete terms the real and ongoing theological debate at the center of the book.
I assume we will get some great pictures of the inside of the Abbey. Our tour guide there pointed out that it was a gift to the Monks after "Leopold the Fair," margrave (whatever that means) of Austria, had, shall we say, some sort of, oh, I don't know "reason" to donate a fantastically gold leaf decorated private church to the monks.
Our guide hinted that when one has the nickname "the Fair" - perhaps the donation of a crazy great church might be just the thing to keep ones private life private.

Pictures are not allowed inside the abbey. Note, however, that this does not mean no pictures were taken.
Yikes
can’t figure out how to get my apparently illegal photo on here 🙂

Aren't we limited to inserting URLs or copying & pasting entire pieces? Attachments don't appear to be a possibility.

Medieval aristocrats *always* had a reason to be making generous donations for the benefit of their souls. It wasn't a pretty business. You were usually raping and pilaging something. I don't think Leopold II of Babenberg, the abbey's founder, was really worse than any others, though. His son, Leopold III, went on to become margrave Leopold the Holy (canonized in the 15th century).
The young protagonist in Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose, Adso, is a monk of Melk Abbey!

I don’t know what super power Marian would want but the one I’ve wished for was to make other people’s stereos play what I commanded they play, with them having no ability to change it or turn it off. Then, when those idiots drive by my house with their bass cranked up so high that my window shake I would change what they are playing to Lawrence Welk’s Champagne Time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XuX6p8Z-eQ

She was in freakin’ Austria and I was stuck here. That’s all the superpower I would want.
