This is the zeppelin field in Nuremburg, where Adolf Hitler conducted his big rallies. Below it is a picture of what it looked like in 1938.

Do they actually use that for anything? If they don't I don't know why they'd want to preserve it.

Probably why they never demolished the Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church. A reminder of the past in hopes it won't be repeated?

Yeah, I think it's this.

The field has been repurposed. A portion of it was converted to an athletic field, where an American style football team currently plays, but that’s on the far side of the original field, far away from the stands. The stands have no current purpose other than as a historical site.
The following article includes a summary of the arguments over what to do with the stands.
They should have rented it to Trump so he could have held his parade. We have tanks in Germany, no?

He could put a big fat red MAGA banner right at the top of that building, where the swastika used to be.

The BEST tanks! They're INCREDIBLE, REALLY SOMETHING SPECIAL. Amazing tanks! Tanks like no one has ever imagined.

FDR got us out of the Great Depression; he created safety rails around our economy to keep the kleptocrats from causing another. He got himself elected four times. He didn't have "rallies," he had "fireside chats."
Ike got us out of our unwinnable land war in Asia and he warned us in advance about the next one. He started the greatest infrastructure project of our history. He enforced Brown v. Board, and he sent troops to protect the kids. He didn't have rallies; he didn't need them.
I'm trying to remember which of our Presidents needed rallies, LOTS of rallies. Oh, yeah, now I remember.

FDR was a weakling cripple. Ike was a soldier, so he was of course "a sucker", for defending our nation. Slow Joe campaigned from his basement in 2020.
Only strong leaders have massive rallies, especially in the middle of pandemic prior to vaccine availability.

Is this a joke comment?
Unintelligible otherwise.

You can't see the sarcasm dripping from almost every word?

How strange. The bottom picture makes the structure look gigantic. The top picture looks surprisingly small. Yet it is obviously the exact same structure.
Maybe the different angle? And the blurry people cause an optical illusion?
Alternatively, maybe the red banners make it look like it's going faster?
