Lunchtime Photo

For the past week I've had a houseguest, an old friend who inherited a big pile of old tickets to Disneyland a few years ago. So on Thursday that's where we went.

This was a mistake. The day before I walked around for an hour and felt fine. I took this to mean that plain old walking was OK and wouldn't tire me out. What it actually meant was that walking for an hour was OK and wouldn't tire me out. As it turned out, after two hours at the park I was dragging badly and after three hours I was about ready to collapse. This was thanks to the combination of my stupid cancer med and a cold I was getting over.

So we weren't there for long and I didn't get to take many pictures. But here's one of the ones I did. It's a long exposure shot of the teacups. As you can see, everyone is whirling around merrily except for the the lazy guy in the orange cup who's just sitting there looking bored.

NB: For those who've never been to Disneyland, there's a wheel in the center of each cup. The harder you turn the wheel, the more the cup spins. If you do nothing, it just sits there.

Looks like the woman is holding a baby. Spinning might not be the best idea
Since you are a Disneyland veteran I would think you’d have the more relaxing portions of the place down and plan accordingly. The river boat, for instance.

I've only visited Disney World once. The only thing that made it bearable was getting buzzed at the wine and beer festival they had.

I haven’t been to Disneyland in years and had no idea you could now purchase liquor there. Just looked it up, and yep, it’s true. In the past it was only available in the exclusive Club 33.

I don't generally drink, and never when I'm responsible for someone, so never knew it was dry! Wow.

They started with the Star Wars Cantina in 2019. Huh.

I'm not sure if they served alcohol regularly or it was a one off thing. Had to be after I was legal. I'd guess early to mid nineties.

I'm surprised that such a dumb ride still exists there. It's indentical to the one I rode as a child in an amusement park near Buffalo NY, but with the unthemed pods turned into teacups. I puked out of the back window of the Studebaker on the way home,

If you'd used minimum aperture, you could have had depth of field and motion blurs. That would have been fascinating to see.
