This is the town of Big Pine, taken from halfway up Highway 168 with the Eastern Sierra in the background. It's hard for a suburban boy like me to imagine waking up every morning to this view.

Is it wrong that my first thought was 'that must be where Invasion of the Body Snatchers happened'?
WOW! That beats my location, just a mile or so from the foothills of the Sandias. Great shot!
Tricky to capture in a photograph, but the thing that really hits you when you wake up in the morning on the eastern slope is the smell. The combination of the sagebrush and the ponderosa pine is incredible, like freshly baked vanilla and herb shortbread.
Somewhere on the portion of the east slope shown there is one of my favorite backpacking trips in all of California.
Come to CO, many burbs have a great mountain view.
