This photo was taken a few years ago. Where is this plane taking off from?
UPDATE: golack was the first to correctly guess that this was good ol' John Wayne Airport here in Orange County, but gunther gets special props for detail: "To be more specific, the picture was probably taken in the parking lot a little south/southwest of the ACI Jet building off Campus Drive."
Palm Springs?
Ontario
Tiny airport in the middle of nowhere with a landing strip built way too large for any reasonable use near the hollowed out mountain where the elite will survive the apocalypse they bring about because there are way too many other people clamoring about who bother them and they're feeling crowded.
The elite likely have plenty of time on their hands, but they don't seem to have all that many children.
Some of the lucky help will have to come along, too, of course.
Ontario Airport?
A runway, one hopes...
Circa March 2019 going by the EXIF data...
Lets see. Big enough for commercial jets. Flying towards the mountain in the picture.
Jet is blue - isn't that the old Southwest Airlines color scheme?
I'd say Teluride Regional in CO.
I'm with you!
I thought of that. Scary airport in my experience, down in the middle of a mountain bowl.
It is the current scheme. The old scheme had more brown and less blue.
Bogota
golak-
I like your guess better than mine
My only problem with the Bogota guess is I believe it's a huge airport.
But a wind sock? Eh, maybe?
BUR (aka Bob Hope) or Burbank Glendale Hollywood Airport
I like Bogota also as a guess...but the mountain coverage seems too sparse, so I say Salt Lake City....(have I just cheated and gotten two guesses in, more or less?....;>))
Traveller
The airport.
What do I win?
When do the test scores come out?
Vegas?
John Wayne Airport; runways point at Baldy; Ontario Airport plane lanes pointing east-west.
The picture at the top--statue of John Wayne at the John Wayne Airport....hmmm....
and it's cycled on to something else....
Looks like Salt Lake City to me.
John Wayne Airport. To be more specific, the picture was probably taken in the parking lot a little south/southwest of the ACI Jet building off Campus Drive.
I'm going to think outside the box on this one and guess Chino Airport.
That's a South West plane, so probably not Bogota.
I'd guess Lake Tahoe, which is difficult airport, especially for small planes.
The Ontario runways are oriented east/west -- at most you'd see San Gorgonio or San Jacinto off in the distance for a east-facing takeoff -- those mountains are neither. I'm going for Burbank.
I was not first to name John Wayne Airport...just the first to point out the picture of the John Wayne statue cycling at the top...
props go to Trandersword and Gunther
