Quote of the day: Life at Fox News became “unsustainable”

From Chris Wallace, longtime Fox News host, on why he finally left the network:

I’m fine with opinion: conservative opinion, liberal opinion. But when people start to question the truth — Who won the 2020 election? Was Jan. 6 an insurrection? — I found that unsustainable.

....Some people might have drawn the line earlier, or at a different point. I think Fox has changed over the course of the last year and a half. But I can certainly understand where somebody would say, "Gee, you were a slow learner, Chris."

Better late than never. Welcome back to the reality-based world, Chris.

Still blows me away pandemic mishandled polling and late mail in ballet issues causes Republicans to whine about the most distorted election in history. Let's be clear, if it was expected to be close, January 6th doesn't happen. I am not talking about the Presidential election either.

He had problems with lying only after the 2020 elections? Trump's entire presidency was one big lie after another. And Fox enabled and amplified those lies.

Welcome back to reality? Well, I guess. But pardon me if I doubt greatly that Chris Wallace will ever amount to anything more than a both-sides journalist and commentator. If that.

This. He was widely praised for fulfilling the minimal expectations of any journalist, as if he was extraordinary for calling out the most egregious BS. He only looks competent next to the Fox crew; anywhere else he'd be suitable to cover local sports.

Mike Wallace developed dementia and dropped out of public life in 2008 so we'll never know how he felt about the rise of Trump the politician versus Trump the shady casino owner who really should have had a 60s Minutes style shakedown back in the 1980s.

"Welcome back to the reality-based world, Chris."?

Nah, Kevin, you stepped on your line. The only appropriate thing to say at a moment like this is "Welcome to the party, pal!" For the culturally deprived: these are the immortal words uttered by Detective John McClane as he dropped a dead faux terrorist (actually mercenary/thief) on the roof of Sergeant Al Powell's police cruiser in Die Hard.

I never watched Wallace on his fox show and I’m sure as heck not going to pay to watch him stream nonsense. That’s a ridiculous suggestion. Wallace is 74. I’m sure he’s got plenty of money. He should apologize to the country for his participation in this propaganda and retire.
