Raw data: All the major Trump court cases since 2016

Donald Trump's latest loss in a British court prompted me to make a list of all the Trump court cases since he first ran for president. Really astounding when you look at it the way you have laid it out. As a reading kind of person, preferring words over images, you prove to me again the value of a good chart, good organization, simple presentation of complex issues...so very good on you, Thanks for continuing my education. Best Wishes, Traveller

We really need to get under his skin by publicly asking him if he's tired of losing - or just chant "Loser" at him.

Grown men have come to me with tears in their eyes. "Sir, we can't even imagine a record like this. Can we bear your children?"

Today Trump posted bond of $90M+ to appeal the E. Jean Carroll verdict. I'd guess that may be the single biggest out-of-pocket expense for Trump so far.

This week Trump did win one at the SC, keeping his name on the ballot in Colorado. It won't matter. (The Court went too far though, and that could have repercussions later.)

See, this is why REAL Americans hate you ee-leetists, with your "facts" and your "tables" that make everything "clear." REAL Americans go with their (ample) guts, and those don't need "facts" or "counting" or anything else they "teach" at "schools." Hallelujah!

    Speaking of losers…

The Bronx teen killed in a broad-daylight shooting Thursday got wrapped up in a senseless social media spat between his girlfriend and another female that escalated to deadly violence, the young victim’s family said Friday.

Laquai Dash, 17, a young football player who was looking forward to traveling to Spain on a senior class trip, was shot three times during the 4:15 p.m. violence, which erupted about a block from Legacy College High School, which he attended, according to cops and his family.

Shocking video obtained by The Post shows the moment Dash runs across Cauldwell Avenue in Melrose as his shooter aims — but he collapses on the opposite sidewalk, unable to avoid the three bullets that struck his neck and back.

Just another social media violent crime we ought not think about. It’s less than before! 😂 🤯

    Clearly they deserved it.

Murders reached a peak around 1993, before social media. It was mostly 17-19 year olds. Maybe they were quarreling about drug deals, but people will kill each other about anything if they have guns.

And no, this does not fit the lead hypothesis. People that age were born in 1974-76, well after the peak of lead exposure.

      1. Justin

Why does it matter what happened in 1993 or before? Why does that comfort you? I really don’t understand. It’s defensive.

But yeah… guns. We should round them up. If you own one, you give it up or else. No, we don’t have the guts. And so just everyone stop pretending this level of violence is ok. It’s not.

“The United States had, by far, the highest homicide rate of the G7 countries between 2000 and 2021.”

      2. Excitable Boy

None of what you wrote is accurate. Most of the murderers were not 17-19 year olds.

“The average age of offender 26.4 years in 1994.” The biggest subset was 18-24 year olds, but the vast majority of them were the people in the 20-24 year old group. The 20-24 y.o. group always accounts for the most murders, followed by the 25-29 y.o., and then the 17-19 y.o. Sometimes the latter two groups switch places, but none of these 3 groups individually ever account for even the majority let alone most of the homicides in the US.

The peak in lead in gasoline was around 1973 with 1.35 tons per 1,000 people, but by the end of the decade, it was still 0.9 tons per 1k people in 1979-80. It didn’t really fall substantially until the mid 1980s. Also, the lead was not dispersed equally, Many areas especially poor ones were much more impacted than others.

It absolutely does fit the lead hypothesis.

This is great stuff, Kevin. The news has been reporting on some of the efforts to make Donnie pay these huge fines. I hope they keep it up.

  7. Five Parrots in a Shoe

So in cases that are already decided Trump has one win and 77 losses. Nice.

It's worth noting that his loss in the Trump University case led to Trump shutting down the business.

  8. Salamander

Thanks for this convenient chart! The (perpetual) Defendant's court record is even worse than i realized. What a loser! And now he's trying to convince Americans, particularly Americans of Color (AOC??) that this makes him "just like them."

No, nearly all of them are better than that. Much better.

  9. Justin

Well now… not just an American thing.

    https://www.politico.eu/article/europe-drug-gangs-torture-rooms-arm-kids-kalashnikov-eu-agency-emcdda-warn/

Children shoot at other children with Kalashnikovs. Adolescents unload cocaine off container ports. And a torture chamber sits hidden among shipping containers in a Dutch forest. This is the new reality for parts of Europe maligned by the record number of illicit narcotics pouring in and out of the continent. A drug market now worth tens of billions of euros is fueling warring gangs to employ “unprecedented” levels of violence against each other, European policy bosses warned on Thursday.

The scary thing is millions of Americans don't care about this and are ready to vote for TFG in November.

    "Have I forgotten anything major?"

    Stormy Daniels defamation case :

"Stormy Daniels must pay nearly $122,000 of Donald Trump’s legal fees that were racked up in connection with the porn actor’s failed defamation lawsuit, an appeals court ruled Tuesday"

    ...

"In all, Daniels has been ordered to pay more than $600,000 in Trump’s legal fees, tweeted Harmeet Dillon, one of his attorneys in the case"

  12. pjcamp1905

I spent some time trying to figure out your system for this list. It seems randomized both alphabetically and temporally. Unless it is some outre thing like the second letter of the first name of the defense attorney, I'm guessing brain dump + Google + lack of motivation to reorder. I certainly ran out of motivation to order.

Also, I calculate $571 million he's lost due to rank inability to stop running his mouth. So Far.

I read once that Trump would be richer today than he is if he had just invested his inheritance from his father in stock index funds. He's actively managed his way into being way poorer. So, not surprising.

  13. Dana Decker

Great table. Of note, the Hillary Clinton et al case where he got fined $1 million is being appealed. Trump's lawyers are relentless. In so many cases they've claimed extraordinary rights for Trump, biased judges, evidence should be excluded, and more.

  14. rogerdalien

Enjoying some schadenfreude against Trump here----except for the E Jean case which I think is fraudulent.

You can't win a judgment without evidence, but apparently it happened here.

    This needs to be fixed.

  15. RoseG74

One I would include is his copyright infringement case against Bob Woodward (and Simon & Schuster & Paramount). It is ongoing after it was moved from Florida to New York. I'm guessing the judge will dismiss it, but that motion has been open since December.

I'll also note that the Clinton case is still on appeal:

  16. kennethalmquist

    Here's another one: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67665416/trump-v-simon-schuster-inc/

Trump is suing Bob Woodward and his publisher over Woodward's audiobook The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward’s Twenty Interviews with President Donald Trump, which includes large portions of the interviews with Trump that Woodward conducted when writing Rage. Status: ongoing.

If my count is correct, Trump has initiated 74 lawsuits (including the 62 election lawsuits and the one against Woodward)--and hasn't won a single one of them. He lost 71, and three are ongoing.
