Raw data: Biden vs. Trump vs. Obama

According to Gallup, here is Joe Biden's job approval rating right now. It is identical to the past two presidents at the same point in time:

Obama's job approval didn't recover until two months before the 2012 election. Trump's never recovered.

There should be more coverage on the coverage of Biden. I keep wondering if I’m imagining things or if the press really does hold a unique and passionate hatred for him in their hearts. It would be fascinating to see if there’s any way to actually break that phenomenon down into identifiable data points.

Anyway, if even a single story in any mainstream outlet acknowledges that Biden’s poll numbers may not be as historically terrible as they are always portrayed, I’ll happily stand on my head.

But the reality is that editors across the board seem dead set against anything that might even be suspected as a positive comment about Biden. If gas prices drop, we’ll never hear about it because they vanish instantly from the news. If food prices come crashing down like a tree that nobody hears in a remote forest, did they really make a sound? Editors seem to hope not.

I don’t know if it’s Biden’s age, his failure to produce a juicy personal or administrative scandal (as opposed to controversy emanating solely from his wayward son), his unforgivable sin of admitting that the Afghanistan war was un-winnable and therefore withdrawing our troops, his plain old boring nature (in contrast to trump’s never ending clown show of a dumpster fire in a circus), or some combination of these and other factors, but I swear the press really does seem to hold a grudge against him about something.

All good points. The "both siderism" is a real problem, which skews reporting and op-edding. Have to be tough on Biden, because his predecessor was so bad! Can't let the Republicans call us "liberals"! Good news is no news!

It amounts to the American people not getting the news they need. That is, the news that's necessary to sustain a democracy. We haven't had that for over a decade, and it showsl

A minor point, but the Trump Administration already acknowledged that Afghanistan was un-winnable and Biden just implemented that timetable.

Otherwise, I agree with this post. My hunch is that the MSM is just continuing its rightward shift.

Don't overcomplicate things: It's not the MSM per se, It's the owners of the MSM. And they are actively hostile to Biden not for any of the above, but simply because he is -- or at least represents -- a threat to their bottom line. That's it, full stop.

The mainstream media hates any Democrat in the White House because they've been collectively pussies since Watergate, terrified that conservatives might feel someone is telling them they're wrong and get freaked out and get them fired.

"Bout the same..." just isn't an exciting news story for the breaking news!!!! brand of "journalism" that's slopped out by large media companies. Plus they often just don't cover "good news" much unless they can gin it up some with "stunning breakthrough" or something. Much like social media (who ran with the idea more), news is often skewed to be more "dramatic" than actual "just the events news", to generate interest. Biden's not exciting unless there's clashing with Republicans, thunder and lighting over the budget, or exciting cocaine in a laptop or whatever.

Isn't it fascinating how everyone was up in arms about caps to federal spending when Biden reached a deal to raise the debt ceiling, but now no one mentions it?

If you look at his numbers, it seems to suggest that the low point was around that period of the debt ceiling deal, and now it's completely recovered. So the question is, did his numbers recover because he was able to make a decent deal to avert a default, or did his numbers recover because people stopped thinking about the debt ceiling?

And were there some smoothing, or Drum Trendlines would it look the same? This assertion seems to hinge on a local minimum for Obama and a local maximum for Biden. Otherwise, with one other exception, Biden’s approval rating has always been below that of Obama.

Yabbut a local poll in one part of a SWING STATE showed Kennedy with an approval rating ONE POINT HIGHER than Biden’s!!!11!! HOW can Biden recover from such a CRUSHING DEFEAT?!??!
